Well, he really likes listening to himself. You'll do well if your opinion MIMICS his. He talks about adverse discourse and that he welcomes it until you realize that he doesn't like anybody's else opinion other than his own.

Comment:

He taught Foreign Policy Decision Making in 1990-91. Interesting subject matter for students - looked at various models to explain behaviour. Grades were based on repeating the models verbatim. Attendance was mandatory and participation was required - that was fine. Marking was unique, first time I ever felt bad about a B+ - he gave out an A+++.

A very good teacher. People that complained about his teaching style were lazy and based on rating comments on this site I would suggest nothing has changed. He asked not the impossible but expected student to participate, be interested in what they were studying. He was respectful, and intelligent.

This man is a great teacher and it takes a clearly takes a mature student to appreciate him - his class was one of my most memorable, and he is definitely the most helpful prof I've ever had! He will call you personally to let you know if he can't make it to class, and his assignments are really interesting.

um, yeah this guy doesn't have a PhD, or a Master's. He was taking a joint program, and was then offered tenure. He promptly dropped out and remained a professor. He's no more educated than the average honours student.

Yellon is clear in his lectures and expectations, fair in grading, always available to help, brings up super interesting current-issues for class discussions. He does look like a crazy prof but you will learn a lot and do well if you respect his approach
