Absolutely horrible. It was obvious that he did not care about the students understanding what he was lecturing on. Midterm and final were way more in depth then lecture notes were. You were expected to know the textbook cover to cover. Certainly will be avoiding any other classes with him.

If I hadnt been a notetaker for this course, I probably would never have gone to the lectures. They arent mandatory. Read the assigned chapters ans you will be fine. Midterm and final are both based almost entirely on the text and ask stupidly specific questions. Tried to make the content interesting, but soil can only be so exciting.

Midterm was brutal b/c it was completely unrelated to the lectures, and after the brutal midterm he kept emphasizing "this is in the textbook you need read more on this" That seems like their go to, really lazy teaching. Saved my mark b/c of the lab exam (surprisingly easy, could've something to do w/ bad midterm marks? ) and the research project.

Great Professor, very understandable when it comes to give accommodations to DSS students. provides good feedback and he is always willing to help you outside the classroom. Replies to emails fairly quickly. He is a tough grader though

i took the online course, and the course materials even gave the wrong page of relative contents... it had 4 tests which were alright, the midterm was more difficult than the tests; however, that it was okay because all these exams were open-booked. the final: 3 hours, 120 multiple choosen, 15 matching, 3 short answers(need to write 1 paper/Q)

Rod & Burt are awesome. Slides are not posted for copyright reasons, but going to the lectures you get into the material and learn to appreciate it. Additionally, going to class really helps with the assignments, put some work in and its an easy 90 on all six assignments. Midterm was moderately challenging, final was reasonable. Multiple choice.

Lectures were on topic, slides very useful, tests on lectures and textbook. Available through email, negotiable, and considerate of my situation (I am in DSS). Material was easy to understand when he discussed it during lectures. Fair grader and exams were neither too difficult nor too simple. Taking GEOG 280 with him soon, excited!

Quick email replies. Very accommodating and understanding when you talk to him & Bert after class/during office hours. Helped make it easier for me when I was having a hard time. Saved my semester since I had the most indifferent profs during the term I took Rod & Bert's class.

The midterm was much tougher than it needed to be but the final was reasonable. Bi-weekly assignment were easy and worked as mark boosters. Does not post notes so attendance is highly recommended even though much of the final and midterm are based on the textbook.

He's really approachable and friendly. His humour is kind of lame but that's what makes him so funny. Doesn't post notes so you must memorize text book, that's why the tests are tough. But the assignments are easy and a life saver if you're no good at multiple choice.

Really nice guy and good sense of humour! tests were hard and unpredictable as you have to read the whole book and remember all the terms. Lab was bad as the lab instructor who can't even speak English!

Tries to be funny but isn't. Class was interesting but the fact that they don't post the notes makes it hard to learn. Lab was pointless and stupid. Tests were hard and confusing

Really doesn't know how to teach a class. Expects you to know the textbook front and back and no one has time for that, but somehow he fails to understand this. Really hard to do well in the class. Exams do not test relevant material.

Assignments were incredibly vague. lots of preaching and not much of an opposing view is mentioned unless it is in a condescending manner. most of the test questions are straight outta the book. and be prepared if you don't respond in class to have a Group presentation assigned in the last 3 days!

They really are good guys and the material is interesting.. The midterm is not bad either which makes me question the validity of this site basewd on the previous posts. This site has seemed to evolve into a site for students whom are pissed off because they did poor on an exam that they did not prepare themselvves for

He and Weichel taught the class together, exams were based on the text and not majorly addressed in the lectures, very boring class. Bi-weekly essays were broad and class attendance was necessary to know what they wanted in the assignments. Read the textbook for the exams.
