He's teaching a Pittsburgh now. WORST CLASS EVER!! This stuff doesn't even deserve to be studied. It's made up BS so guys like Nelson could have a job. Tests are impossible, lectures are gibberish, and you don't know you're failing until the course is more than half way over!

I loved this guy. If you love sarcasm and dry humour, you will enjoy his lectures. If not, you won't get his jokes and think he is being serious (ie. you will be bored). The readings are interesting, marking is fair, exam was representative of the readings. I recommend him.

The class is pretty easy to follow sometimes he tedns to go a little fast but nothing that isn't manageable. If you know your notes and you makes notes for the readings (there are many) you'll be fine for the exams (mid-term and final). Paper is a little difficult (40% of grade). Attendance at conferences are mandatory.

This class is honestly not that hard... if you just learn all of the lecture notes by heart and do all of the readings several times (like 3) the exams will seem really easy. The material was actually quite interesting, and the prof is a good lecturer despite what many say.

tv and society is a simple class--i did crosswords through most of it and wrote my final paper on degrassi high. classical theory is another story--the readings are long and dry, and the class isn't much better. it's not nelson--he really is a sweetie and very into what he's doing, even with people sleeping, but the course material is so dense.

This guy is like a stale whole-wheat cracker that's been sitting under your desk collecting dust. This guy is BORING. Seriously, if you can find another course, you should do it for your sake. His lectures are clear, though, if you actually manage to stay awake...

I know this is sociological theory, but I really believe Nelson made it the most boring it possibly could. I've had him in a few classes, and although they were good overall, and he is very helpful when seeking advice, his lectures are rather boring.

Material itelf was boring (Semantic-wise) b/c it's not the modern-day English we know but once u understand, it's interesting. The prof. did best considering that the course IS about 'classic sociology theories' so..it's normal to be a bit bored but the prof. knew the material and was helpful B+
