If you need to take Eng 271W, please DO NOT TAKE with him. You will most likely fail the class. If you are in science major, that is a BIG NO NO to that. He doesn't understand how scientist writes a paper. He's just grade like literature class. You missed one assignment, you are most likely failed the class.

Very hard to not fall asleep in his class. He don'y clarify what exactly he wants. Worst is he keeps doing something every freaking time. He use his full 4 hours of class with a 5 min break. Too much of hand-on-exercises. At one point i actually gave up, i didn't feel like putting too much effort due to too much of work.

He uses outdated concepts to teach topics that don't seem helpful or relevant to TechComm. We had about 800 points in the end, but had no idea of that since he doesn't have a true syllabus. I got an A but still believe he is a poor grader, as he will take some points off simply for something being different than his answer even if it is correct.

Great teacher, kind of funny sometimes. very useful class and he is very approachable and friendly. is willing to work with you if you miss an assignment or two. bit of a tough grader but he goes over everything you need to do in class so if you don't do well it's your own fault. class is long but not too boring most of the tme.

Nord is a unique guy. He has a tremendous amount of experience with tech writing and he's got some funny stories to tell. Be patient, as class can be slow, but listen to what he says and you'll easily pass. Some classes are harder than others; stick to online if possible.

As a senior, this is by far the most challenging course that I've taken in college. On average, he assigns 4 assignments every week and is a very harsh and unfair grader. If you get a 15/20 on an assignment, he writes "great job"--that's a C. Instead of teaching us about next week's assignment, he wastes a lot of class time on irrelevant material.

Took as synchronous on-line. He was a good (maybe not great) instructor- tried to do too much in a class period and we usually ran out of time. Very fair grader and challenging assignments that I enjoyed doing. This is not a class for slackers-but great for those who want to do well.

Roland is--and always will be--a mentor. He was my TA Coordinator years ago, and I taught a technical writing class with him. He's had a major influence on my own career as a teacher. He got me into the web when documents were just "gray" pages of text. I loved him as a person, and I enjoyed playing guitar with him. Open yourself to Dr. Nord.

Very tough class. Get ready to learn. He is a great guy, keeps the class interesting (as interesting as tech writing can get...) and has a great sense of humor. Very smart man. lots of busywork, but in the end you come out knowing something more then you came in with. definitly take his classes

Showing up to class and doing the work is a must! If you put forth reasonable effort, you WILL pass. If you slack, and skip class, you WILL be lost. I can honestly say I learned a great deal from this professor.
