Mr Ferris. Spring 1978. After my second year, I transferred to University of Arizona. Mr Ferris is the best instructor I had in college, period. He made Caesars Rome come alive; he made it seem like these people were neighbors in the community. Very relatable. Although he did all the talking, he was approachable after class. Top notch instructor

I had Mr Ferris in spring 1977. We were in a humanities class that went over ancient rome and the caesars. What an interesting man, I just heard he has retired. To think he stayed at NWMSU. Is amazing. GREAT, GREAT teacher. Made the material come to life!

The man is a genius. He packs a lot into his lectures, which, to the truly academically-minded student, is refreshing?it?s what college is supposed to be like. To the students who don?t actually want to learn, it?s highly intimidating. Really, you're getting the most material for your $. Consider it a privelege to have him as your professor.

Mr. Ferris, you were one of my instructors in 1978. Thank you for igniting my interest in the ancient world. You were and always will be an excellent instructor. Thank you for staying at NWMSU when you obviously could have done so much more. Your sacrifice is duly noted and appreciated. Enjoy your retirement!

Mr. Ferris is pretty awesome. He's genuinely interested in his material, and seems like he wants you to be too. He likes getting excited in his lectures, and it kept me interested and awake. Tests are relatively easy if you know the material. But he covers a LOT, so you HAVE to know the stuff! Take TONS of notes! Be prepared to write your arm off!

In general, it's a pretty tough class, I BARELY pulled a B and I worked my butt off for it - he's difficult to understand at times, and can be pretty boring - but if you pay attention to his lectures and study, you'll be fine. However, there's no extra credit or curve.

Very intelligent guy! The class is in lecture format, so there's no discussion, which can get a boring at times, but the quality of the class is excellent. I am not a huge fan of this subject, but it's great to listen to someone so intelligent. The tests are pretty difficult, but really study your notes and read your textbook and you'll be fine!

His class is very consistent- he comes into class the same time everyday, lectures the entire time, and you leave. No one asks questions. Everyone else said he was very unapproachable, but whenever I've gone up to him after class or during his office hours, he's been very helpful. He doesn't curve his tests, so buy the outline and study it!

DO NOT TAKE HIM!! His lectures are just rapid fire ramblings that you have to know all of and he won't let you tape it. He is not friendly at all and very unaproachable. His tests are HARD and the class average tends to be in the D-F range. He is so hard. He is also VERY boring and hard to pay attention to. JUST DON'T TAKE HIM!!!!!

He can be hard to follow, and he does know A LOT and it can seem overwhelming, but if you buy the outline he provides (it costs about $1.20) and take additional notes, you should be fine. Never miss a class, and study your notes often and it's not that bad.

It is fairly difficult to keep up with him and his rambeling, and you're not allowed to tape in his class. He is very unapproachable, and even if you do go to him for help you wont get a good answer for your question. He is extremely knowlageable but it sometimes works aginst him.

He mumbles and it is very very hard to understand him!! Class content is not that hard, but his exams are extremely difficult. You have to be a genius to understand the questions that are asked on the exams.

Comment:
He is impossible to understand, talks in circles, and give you 4 pages(front&back- so8) of notes daily. He is too smart for his own good that he doesn't know how to teach the content. He assumes you should know as much as him. Also, he won't help you at all even if you go to him for advice. You aren't allowed tape recorders either. Don't take him!
