I took him over the summer! Quizes almost every week since summer is fast paced but they were based on the readings! Loved his class, he makes it fun! Dont hesistate to take him! I would take as many classes as I could with him! He really cares about his students and often times gets off topic to tell amazing stories! His jokes are hilarious !

I was going through some stuff with my grandma passing away and all, but Prof. Ruiz completely understood and was willing to work with me to get a decent grade. With all the class I missed, I'm honestly lucky I passed with a B. He's great and everyone who has been in his class will say the same. His jokes do get kinda lame, though... Hahaha

One of the best teachers I've ever had! Yes he can be a bit of a tough grader but he believes that everyone has the potential to pass. Quiz answers are in the reading materials. Very funny guy! Friendly and easy going! MUST TAKE HIS CLASS!!

Took him for two classes and he is funny guy, gives a good vibe. Honestly he sometimes can be a tough grader but he knows what you are capable of doing. Easy Class homework is worth points so make sure to do it! Prepare for exams, textbook is useful (honestly you can do without it) you dont need it but its helpful!

Mr. Ruiz was such a goofball in class! Lectures were super entertaining. Gives good examples of real life problems. One of the best professors I've had at COS by far. If you are thinking of taking this class TAKE IT.

Thanks to this teacher I want to be a history high school teacher. Best teacher ever so far. His method of teaching grabs all of your attention and welcomes open class discussions on anything he discusses .. highly recommended

He loves fill-in-the-blank type of questions. He calls people out for missing class and takes away "pain points". His lectures were interesting and I learned a ton about history. I wish i had shown up more and studied harder for an A, but my B was earned.

Mr. Ruiz is a very nice man and he would help students if they asked him to. He held early morning study groups. Hes funny, but I found his lectures long and boring. Also, his lectures were sometimes confusing. He posted the final grades and there was only one A out of a class of 35. You HAVE to be in class.

He is sorta scatter-brained and taking notes is VERY hard and his lectures & notes he does on the board are VERY hard to follow - therefor make sure you read the text or you're gonna struggle. As a person he's really nice and hilarious! He will catch you off guard with some great jokes! PS - he doesn't like people being late, he'll make fun of you!

Great history class. Mr. Ruiz keeps things really interesting with little "not on the test" stories or "what was I saying?" tangents. Sometimes he does get sidetracked while speaking but everything you need to know for the tests is either written on the board or in the book. Reading is necessary to get a good grade. Highly recommended teacher.

He is a great teacher. Great sense of humor and makes learning interesting with his jokes and stories. I found it much easier to feel interested in this class, when I usually don't enjoy history. There is a fair amount of homework, essays, and reading, which I feel are important to do in order to pass. Overall a great experience.

He is very good at teaching the material. You have to do your own work and study. This is the only class I've gotten a B in. The tests can be very specific. Read your textbook. You won't pass if you don't study. He isn't the easiest teacher but he is very nice and funny, and he made the subject interesting!
