Horrendous professor. The amount of reading he requires is ridiculous. Acts as if this is your only class. About a paper every two weeks, very ambiguous that he completely rips you apart on. Don't get stuck with this class as your Intercult. NA.

Comment:

Very easy course. Prof. Hayashida is very kind and knowledgeable however the class grew boring and unfortunately many of the students did not respect him - strange for a professor who made it quite easy on us. Three short papers, three group discussions, & two exams for which he provided study guides. Long lectures, but if you listened you learned.

I took this class because every1 says how easy it is, but I would not recommend taking this class if u r not into poli sci or history. It can really be a pain. 3 papers(challenging critical thinking questions)...2 presentations (easy)...several quizzes which cannot be passed unless you really study! He is really nice though but very hard to follow.

a really really nice man. assignments are easy, no final. reading to do about once every three weeks but he helps you talk about them. just a really great guy who understands what college students are going through and tries to make it a little easier on them. definitely take, only downside is he is a bit boring.

I loved him as a person, but not so much as a teacher. I didn't learn a thing in class. He gives you a list of 60-80 terms and puts 15-20 on the test. No papers and two very easy presentations. You can't hear him talk during the power point presentations. A lot of videos. A sweet man though!!!

His powerpoints are disorganized and had too much info at once. It's impossible to pay attention to him because his dull voice makes me lose interest. The class wasn't that easy, either. The textbook made tests that should've been easy to study for very difficult because many of the terms were nowhere to be found. I wouldn't recommend him at all.

People definitely don't respect him enough which is really sad because he's one of the nicest professors I've ever had. Class consists of powerpoints, some videos, and class presentations of weekly reading assignment (super easy). Three papers; he's an easy grader. Takes attendance sometimes but if you don't want to go, you can easily get out of it

Modern Comparative Politics:Honestly I registered for this class just because I heard he's gonna be an easy A, I don't like politics. But then I really liked Prof. Hayashida. i respect him,because he's a really smart guy, he knows very well all he's talking about. He cares about his students and tries ti make their life easier and still teach them.

Well, if hayashida is going to take attendance in the begining of class, then of course people are going to leave. i had 40 is my class and after our 10min break there were 7 people. This guy is smart and know his stuff.I stay in his lectures bc i respect him. He knows a lot of what he is talking about and hes brilliant!

I agree with some of the previous ratings when it comes to people taking advantage of him...I did too. But listen, he gives you a review sheet for both tests. there is NO paper at all. He posts ALLLL of his powerpoints online, and you can just check your name off on the sign in sheet and leave sometime during class. I got an A in a poli sci class!?

He is a great guy! Nice, flexable and a fair grader. He does go much easier on athletes than anyone else in the class. I feel bad because rude people sometimes take advantage of that and don't show up or walk out in the middle of class. The class was terribly boring and felt very long and you don't have to buy the books.

I have him for Asian Pacific Americans and it is very easy...he's a very easy grader and a nice man. I feel bad though...****s walk all over him and leave class after signing in...little do they know that he notices every single time. He's also a little hard of hearing. I would take him again, though.

Class - Pacific East Asian. Extremely easy class. 4 3-5 page papers. Easy midterm and easy finals. He's an extremely nice guy. Very knowledgeable, but his power-points are insanely boring. Most people ... leave the class the moment they sign in ... pretty sad ..

He is such a nice guy and because of that people abuse his kindness. He also favors and athletes more; so if your an athlete take him and you'll get easier preferential treatment than others in class. The course isn't difficult but it isn't as easy as people make it out to be. You do have to review but he gives you the notes to review from anyway.

I feel bad because people take advantage of how flexible he is, by always walking out in the middle of class. Yes, the class is very boring, but he's a really nice guy. Four 5 page papers but very easy. I handed one paper in 13.5 font that just reached the 5th page and got an A-. Hard of hearing so you may need to repeat yourself. Easy A.

Professor Hayashida is a cool guy but his class can be boring. I had him for Asian Pacific Americans. He lectures alot and it seems like no one listens. He takes attendance but I don't think he'll hold it against you if you miss class. He has you write 4 papers that he grades really leniently. No quizzes or anything, just an easy midterm and final.
