He asks very random questions on quizzes. He also was not clear on what he really wanted on essays and even takes off points for missing things that he never asked for. He does not respect what students say even though he requires participation.

If you are really interested in religion this is the class for you. If you are looking for an easy class to sleep through, this isn't the class to take. There is a lot of reading and the essays can be challenging. Overall, it was a good intro class if you know nothing about religion.

The instructions for essays do not say everything he really wants, so he takes off points for not bringing up things he actually ask for. His quizzes have random questions. Even though participation is required, he does not respect what students say.

He takes off points on essays for things he did not ask for in the instructions, so meeting the essay requirements mean nothing. He requires active participation from everyone, but he really is not interested in listening to what others say. His quizzes also ask random questions that cannot be prepared for.

On essays, he takes off points for things he did not ask for in the instructions. The instructions do not help for writing the papers. He also asks random questions on his quizzes and is uninterested in what students say, even though he makes participation a major part of the grade.

I agree he's not the most helpful guy, but who cares. Just do the work and you'll be fine. If you put the time in for the papers and provide a good amount of detail and do the same on the mid term and final you will do just fine. Its really not that hard.

On essays and other assignments, he does not clarify what he really wants. He also asks very random questions on quizzes and has no interests in what students say even though participation is made vital to get a good grade in the class. He also talks too much for participation to be possible.

He does not give clear instructions on assignments. The quizzes consist of random questions (he gives study guides, but they don't help). Participation matters, yet it is hard to participate since he does not respect students' ideas.

I went in thinking this class was going to be very interesting and it was a major let down. Professor Furman is a jewish rabbi. He is very one sided and it is very annoying. He doesn't like when people disagree with him. You have to read at least 100 pages a night and is very vague on tests and essays.

He was not about clear about what he wants on the essays. He asks random questions on his quizzes and was uninterested in what students say even though he makes participation a vital component to passing, so it's hard to participate then.

He gives no clear instructions on any assignment. Quizzes were composed of random questions, so the study guides don't help. He requires participation, yet talks so much that it is too hard to participate. Don't take him for any class.

He goes off on tangents so I tended to tune him out. The topic itself is interesting if only he were a bit more organized. PARTICIPATE, it helps both of you stay on track. Complaint: too much assigned work. Handouts, hour long videos and finishing a lot of novels. quizzes are short but broad and no finals but 2 essays. An ok class.

Very clearly uninterested in anything any students say; he diverges on the most obscenely unrelated and insubstantial tangents.. I really expected more out of the Honors Program. Avoid at all costs.

Terrible teacher. Lectures were so boring. Deff one of the worst teachers i ever had. Never could get focused in class. All he does is talk and talk and talk. Would be better if he put us into groups.

I loved his lectures, but he didn't give clear cut instructions on assignments and tests. I ended up with B+, sucks because it is all at his discretion and I could have had all A's that semester. DO the reading and ask questions. VERY HARD GRADER. I learned a lot.

It's a shame how this class worked out. Furman is knowledgeable on religion but lack open mindedness when students speak up about personal opinions. Lecturing was monotonous and repetitive. Over all could have been much better
