Comment:
Dr. Knight loves thermo. There are pop homework take ups and quizzes. There are no grading curves ever even if 25+ people fail an exam. If 2 people make As on an exam, he sees no excuse why the rest of the class should get a curve. "It's possible; Don't expect a curve". The majority of the class made D's or F's in his course.

Comment:
Roy Knight teaches very effectively. You must go to class though. He does not trick anyone, but in order to have all the tools you need for problems you must go to class and PAY ATTENTION. He's finicky about rules, and arguing with him is like getting blood from a turnip. Don't test him either. He'll give a a zero.

If you want to learn thermo, take Roy Knight. I took him for thermo 1, am taking him for thermo 2, and am going to take him for heat transfer. I know the subject so much better than people from other classes and enjoy the material. Best lecturer I've ever had in school.

He is the best professor I have ever had. He is very tough and his exams are hard but he presents the material in a way that is understood. He is the only Thermo 1 professor that will properly prepare you for thermo 2. Take him if you want to be able to do well in thermo 2 and heat transfer. If you don't care about the material then dont take him

He is super intelligent and communicates well during class lectures. However, his tests are extremely difficult and do not match homework assignments in difficulty level. He definitely does not teach to the level at which he tests.

Very intelligent prof, but tests are extremely long and sometimes tricky. Unclear how points are allocated--and you can't finish on time. I bet you he can't take his own test in 50 minutes. He makes you show things by hand unnecessarily (e.g. linear interpolation). Likes to give pop quizzes with different nomenclature from book to confuse you.

Great lecturer, but gives a ton of homework that he randomly collects. You have to go to class because he gives unannounced pop quizzes and homework. However, he's by far my favorite professor at Auburn so far and I feel like I learn a ton during his class.

Top 5 best teachers in Auburn Mech dept, for sure. Stay on top of the class, and you'll do fine. If you liked Harris' teaching and lecture style for thermo 2, then you'll like Knight. Enjoyed his lectures. Highly recommend taking him. Just do it.

One of the best mech profs. Affectionately called "the Knightmare." Expect to work hard. Randomly gives quizzescollects hw. He really cares that you learn the material, and is very willing to help outside of class. Excellent lecturer, very clear. Partial credit is decent but strict. You'll likely not finish any of the tests, but he usually scales.

Dr. Knight is very talented at teaching and wordplay. You always know you're learning a lot, but sometimes you don't know if what he says is a slight insult or a haymaker to your ego.

Knight is proabably the best teacher I've had at Auburn. The subject isn't easy though, and his tests are made to make sure you know the material. It will be obvious that he cares more about your knowledge of the material than your grade in the class. You'll learn the material whether you do well or not as long as you try.

He is a hard professor. His lectures can get boring at times but he has a great sense of humor. Do your homework and additional problems to stay on top of the class. Make sure to study for the exams they are hard. Know the material well enough that you will not be looking at equation sheet to save time on exams.

Dr. Knight is the best professor you will ever have when it comes to being taught the material, and he's funny. But he also functions as a wrecking ball to your GPA. The exams are tricky and you'll work really, really hard for a B/C.

Dr. Knight is the best professor I've had in Mechanical Engineering. That being said, he's also the hardest. He grades pretty tough on exams and quizzes, but it's always straightforward stuff. If you work the problems and can do any Heat Transfer problem, you'll get through the exams no sweat. Be prepared to work your ass off though.

Knight is a great teacher. He grades rather tough and the quizzes/homework grades are pretty regular. Quizzes are very similar to HW so do it. Crystal clear notes/explanations in class. He doesn't care about your grade exactly--he cares about you learning the material. And you do. Probably one of the best professors I have had at Auburn.

Dr. Knight is the hardest and best teacher I have had at Auburn. I have learned way more then my grade would tell. His tough, but he is funny, knowledgeable, and actually teaches the material! I had him for Thermo I and Thermo II... I love his class. REMINDER: NOT A CAKE WALK, but WELL WORTH IT!
