Comment:
Ruben has a strong passion for statistics and a clear desire to teach you everything he knows. His teaching style is to go over materials on the projector and occasionally use the whiteboard if something is unclear. However, he often sidetracks into a verbal explanation which may be hard to follow without some written aid picture. Extremely nice.

Decent prof with helpful lecture notes. Sure, he just scrolls through them and reads them off in class, but he's a nice guy and tries to make things easier (with varied results). Go for a better prof if there is one, but with Professor Zamar you can't really go wrong.

Could not stand his accent, so ended up either sleeping/skipping his class. The TA was so much better at explaining concepts. Did very poorly because I had zero desire to learn the material. His 'slides' consist of a webpage that he just scrolls through in class, unreadable in big classroom.

Terrible lecturer. Boring as all hell and often not understandable. Lazy professor, assignments are exactly the same as previous classes, and tests are barely different from previous years. Easy A+, but don't expect to learn anything.

good class, pretty easy, not necessary to go all the time if you're good at learning on you're own, the prof is good at explaining theory, put there isn't much of that on the exam, make sure you know the "expected" questions REALLY well from the old finals, etc., and put examples on ur sheet :)

EASY CLASS. You just need to know and understand the past midterms and finals...I didnt even do any of the problem sets. I wish all engineering classes were like this.

He can't speak english and he gets *himself* confused. It takes him 15 minutes to explain what 1 minute of reading makes clear... and his explanation is not clear. BOO!

Class had no structure. Trying too hard to work new technology which wasted a lot of time in lectures. Very helpful in office hours. Very nice. Solving problems to pass this course is a must.

His accent is kind of thick. But the material is easy as long as you put in the little effor required (consistently) to understand it.

Nice enough guy. Teaches really slowly, though. The exam was very similar to the past final exams, so study and understand those and you'll do fine. Assignments have little to do with the exam, so they're almost useless.

All I can say is that I have gone to his class 4 times this term and I have over an 80% average... from reading his notes. Read his notes in detail and do examples and you will do well. He's a good hearted person.

Very helpful in office hours etc, and considerate, but also very disorganized. Exam, project dates changed many times. Worst thing was no solved problems given in class, nor in solutions. TA's for this section were useless!! Few learning resources :-(
