Comment:

Sam is a very nice man who actually seems to care about teaching. There was no final exam in the course and his marking is very fair. His lectures can get dull (he does include personal anecdotes sometimes which are interesting) and he mainly just reads off of the slides for the lectures. Overall his anthropology class was pretty chill.

Sam is a wonderful professor. He shares good stories, and really ties them into the course material. Overall a soft spoken great prof and would definitely take him again!

Sam is an older gentleman who is very soft spoken. I mean, very soft spoken. If you need a professor with a lot of enthusiasm and is high paced, dont take a class with Sam. The course was fairly easy and decently interesting. I dont have any major complaints, but i wouldnt necessarily take a class with him again. Easy A though

Very kind and understanding prof. I really loved his class and would recommend him to anyone planning to take ANTH 1100. The only downside is that he doesn't post the lecture notes online which the tests are based off of so you have to attend every class

Comment:

He is so dry. He's very quiet, and tends to focus on the oddest details. He also assigned a book report that had nothing to do with the class really. We talked about it for 20 minutes in one class, and that was it. Even though it's magic, religion, and witchcraft, he only really talks about religion. It is NOT the fun class you're expecting.

Sam is a great professor! Rest assured, when you take his class, he doesn't give a final exam but a group presentation instead which I found much better when getting a higher grade. He goes into depth with his lectures and he makes them very interesting as he also includes his experiences with it. Definitely recommend him!

Sam is an ok prof. I found his lectures to be kind of boring and often times i wouldn't stay for the full 3 hours. However, i will say that it is easy to pass his class as long as you refresh yourself on the material every now and then. With that being said i would recommend his class.

Sam was a really good professor and really helpful in everything. He really helps students out by reviewing things more thoroughly. He also gave the essay questions out beforehand, which I found super helpful! He explains his notes very well. I would definitely recommend taking him for. He also shows a lot of films which helped me learn better! :)

Sam is a great teacher. I would take a class with him again. It's easy to get a good grade if you try. Others have said his voice is soft, but it is perfectly understandable so there is no issue. Others have said his lectures are dry, I would say it's difficult to make definitions interesting even if your a great teacher. You like anth., go for it.

Sam is a great prof and very knowledgeable about about anthropology. I took 2 classes with him and did well in both. His classes mainly consist of powerpoints and lectures. He often elaborates on the slides so attending class is helpful. He has a very soft and quiet voice so I recommend not taking his class first thing in the morning.

Comment:

Sam is a nice guy. Online notes are not the full version of the class notes so attendance is mandatory. Class was very interesting and I learned greatly from him. There are 2 exams which are not hard at all if you study, one essay based on an interesting booklet, and a presentation, no final exam. I would recommend him :)

Sam is great prof. Unlike whats some have said the sound of his voice doesn't reflect him at all. He puts in great effort into his lectures, using awesome examples like Wayne's World and Star Trek. He's a fairly easy marker as long as you follow direction and try your best he can see that. Overall loved his class, definitely taking him again!

Sam is very soft spoken/mono tone. I found class to be very dry. It was hard to stay engaged in the 3 hour class. He also did not really explain things well enough for most of our class to understand the concepts. Tests were all essay based and he is a hard marker.

Sam is an amazing person! I took my first anth class with him many years ago and decided to major in it because of his classes. He's not super easy but hes not too hard either. He is very soft-spoken but get over and listen! He has a lot of great examples from his own fieldwork. Great class, great guy! Id highly recommend any class with him
