Dr. Kaplan is truly the only math professor that I will take another math class with. Dr. Kaplan takes the course and makes it at least somewhat interesting. I'm not good at math but to do well in the class just use the book to help with your homeworks and try to score as high as you can on his exams. I recommend anyone take him if you can.

Kaplan is a wonderful professor and person. Very talented and insightful with historical context to math. I recommend solo-UGR with him. Group UGR's are difficult as he does not mediate other people's effort well. Your peers tend to be very distant from the group. Also, his office hours are packed and schedule 150% full. Always on the run.

Dr. Kaplan is the best math teacher or professor I have had. He has a lot of respect for his students and is truly passionate about the subject he teaches. Math has always been my least favorite subject, but he actually made me enjoy Calculus. While the homework could be pretty difficult at times, the tests were fairly easy.

Took calc 2 with him. It was a change b/c I was used to online homework, & he had us write out all our answers in complete sentences/expressions. I certainly learned a lot, and Dr. Kaplan was there to help when I asked. He was willing to meet me halfway--what more can you ask of a professor? I would rate him highly.

Dr. Kaplan is amazing! He is such a good professor. He loves math so much, but understands if you don't. He is more concerned with students learning the material than getting everything correct. He allows test corrections for half credit. One of the best professors I have had-take him for Calc!

Dr. Kaplan is an excellent professor if not the best at UNCA. His classes are fun and interesting. He assigns homework every week, but if you do it, you will do just fine on the tests. Plus, the grading is pretty fair.

Sam is an excellent math professor, and a hilariously kind human. He breathed new life into calculus, and made the material extremely interesting to learn. I would recommend him for any math class, as he really cares about his students and subject.

I took Math and Social Justice with Sam. I loved it! i'm not a math major and was the only freshman in the class. I worked really hard though and Sam saw that. My experience with him has been if you work hard you will do well but if you don't show up for class or do work you won't do well.

The best Math teacher I have had so far. His Calculus classes at Harvard Summer School were great, has really ignited my interest in Math. Wish I had the opportunity to take more classes with him. If you have the chance of having him as a professor, take it. You won't regret it.

As quirky and brilliant as Kaplan is, his HUM 324 class was HARD. He is tough on grading papers and his exams were brutal. He often ranted about math which wasn't really appropriate for humanities. Not for the feint of heart.

So Kaplan may be a bit odd... but he's amazing. He really cares whether or not you understand the material and really makes class fun. I haven't enjoyed a math class in a long time so i was glad he ignited my interest again. Great professor, wish i'd known sooner, i'd've taken a lot more classes with him!!

Kaplan is a very nice man and loves teaching and cares about his students. I could not understand a single one of his lectures and would stress over every test because I felt like I'd never seen this stuff before. Nothing he said made sense to me. But he is very willing to help outside of class if you can understand him. Nice guy.

So knowledgable and even though the subject was so hard, he taught it well enough for me in class to be like yeah yeah I get it, then I went back to the dorm and I'm like what the hell is this! But he's a great prof, nice guy, I definetly reccomend him.

He is an awsome teacher! I have never had a teacher that was so enthusiastic about teaching. It seemed like there was nothing on Earth that would make him happier than to teach Calculus at 8 in the morning.
