Honestly, this class was so dry. He is very enthusiastic about the material, but it doesn't help me when everything he says in class isn't on the exam. He knows what he is talking about, he just doesn't teach it well. His powerpoints are useless because you have to read in order to pass the exams and even then they are difficult and tricky.

Good and approachable professor. Teaching style can be a bit boring at times since he reads from the powerpoints. Took this class over summer. Had an exam every week. Went thoroughly through the chapters. His exams are straight out of the book. Read the chapters very well. Has an individual project towards the end. Did not grade very tough on that.

Took Yang's ISDS 406 course over summer and while the material can be very boring at times, he does a good job of teaching it. He's happy to answer questions and is clear about his grading criteria. Just read the book and pay attention to the lectures and you will do fine. homework is easy. project is tough but individual; no presentations.

Very good professor in terms of knowledge and delivery of course material. Whats great about Yang is that he has tons of professional experience and he relates it to the class material very well and even makes it funny and entertaining. Some students dont really appreciate his teaching style but I found it very effective. Best ISDS prof. ive had

Like other people have said, with Professor Yang you have to self study. In my opinion he was not a great professor. He was very unapproachable, and was kinda a jerk when I asked for help. I took him for 406 and 409 in the summer but he was not very helpful. He says he "loves teaching" but to his students, he doesn't show he cares about the.

Hands down one of the best professors in the ISDS department, understands students and gives opportunities. Took him for a summer 402 and now im taking 409. Whats on the lecture is whats important, take notes, read the book, study homework and at the end of semester smile when u see the work you done actually paid off.

Show up to class, do whatever you want. Pretty chill prof. Know the material and exams aren't too difficult. Short easy homework. One individual proj. I did it the night before and got 30/30. I would recommend if you're a self study kind of person.

Pretty straight forward. He sticks to the syllabus. Points for attendance, homework, individual project, and exams(Non cum). HW is short and easy. Individual project doesnt take much time to do. I did it in a day and got 29/30. Tests are very easy IF you read the book. If you go off just power-points and know them REALLY well you'll still get a B.

Not my favorite nor worst IS professor, but you can tell he is passionate about network security. He tries his best to make you learn, and it can be a boring class, but Dr. Yang tries to make it interesting. Overall 3 midterms + final, hw every week, individual project, takes attendance. Doesn't post grades on Titanium which is very ANNOYING.

Great teacher for the security class. He makes a rather dry subject fun and interesting. I'm taking the networking class with him in the spring. I wouldn't say this class is an easy A but he doesn't go out of his way to make it hard. If you know your stuff you'l have no problem with this class.

straight forward, No curve balls,. He sticks to the syllabus, no surprises. Points for attendance, homework, individual project, and tests. Individual project is easy, just a little time consuming. Tests are easy if you read the lecture notes. Book is optional but probably helpful if you want an A. Final is not comprehensive, only 3 chapters

Attendance is mandatory as homework is due in class. I don't know a lot about network security but after taking this class, I learned so much just by watching him and basketball on pc at the same time. He makes it fun and he gives out tips of what NOT to do. Network security teaches somewhat the knowledge hackers get themselves into.

I took this class over the summer and got an A. His lectures are long, but he gets really excited talking about networks, especially wi-fi, which makes the class interesting. Read the book! Questions on the exams come from the book, not the powerpoints. He also assigns very easy homework and one individual project. Overall, excellent professor!

Good Professor. His lecture is bored but the instruction is good. Very hot class because Pro. Yang is only one to teach this one as it is required for all IS related major/minor. Not recommended but you have no alternative. Class has 1 Individual Project, 7 HWs, 4 exams. Writing grade is easy as long as you follow the instruction.

This class was very interesting, you learn a lot about wireless technologies. 2 midterms, 1 finals, and 1 individual group project. The textbook comes with a practice exam, so study them because the test questions are very similar. Overall, great professor and this guy knows his stuff.

I've taken 3 other ISDS classes with him and I got to say, this class was the hardest/boring class I have ever taken with him. The class consist of 2 midterms, 1 finals, and 1 individual group project. They are all multiple choice. I recommend reading the assigned chapters more than once. Overall great professor, but boring subject.

3 Midterms, 1 Finals, and 1 individual group project. His test questions are somewhat tricky, so read all the chapters assigned. This guy knows his stuff, so if you want to learn I recommend taking him for any of the ISDS classes that he teaches.

The main problem is he views us like CS major from Harvard stud, not BUSINESS stud from CSU since he expects us to know everything and only there to read off the PPT in monotone to review with us, not to teach. Very tough tricky detailed exam. He also gives very Huge HUGE project for each student. He love to take point off homework on tiny mistakes

Comment:
Very dull emotionless word-for-word lecture. But very high expectation, strict hw grader, no review no study guide, no curve. 1 group-size-INDIVIDUAL project with words count & big list of requirement. His teaching quality not match his academic expectation at all. Very technical course with 0 practical, imagine that, yet he makes life even harder
