Comment:

Took his class last summer session and thought I would easily fail his class. Newby gave us HW(Portfolio = 5),two exams and a group project. I read every chapter of the book plus all he had on titanium. Exams were open book and notes but it still wasn't so easy. I hope to take him again.

2 exams, 1 final, and 3 lab tests. The lecture is boring, but when he comes to teach access and excel, it's ok. The exams are easy as long as you read and review the ppt and pratice tests; the lab tests are open book¬e. There is one group project where you make a blog; it's very simple to do. Take him!

I attended every class and I was not able to comprehend a word he lectured. His class is boring and generic and he rarely responds to his emails. Good thing is he doesn't grade too hard and the homework, the practice lab tests, and open notes really helps on the actual lab tests. Study guides also doesn't help much but overall it wasn't that bad.

This class is easy as long as you do all the work and understand it. The lab tests are exactly like his practice tests. His written tests are just key terms or ideas from the book.I rarely went to his lectures and I ended with a "B"in the class. Newby has a dry sense of humor. The class is fairly easy.Don't miss lectures where he He teaches excel and access. REALLY HELPFUL. He assigns 3 easy hw. Exams aren't too bad just study the terms in the book and do practice questions.There is an easy group project where you make a blog. Go to his office hours, they really helps. Easy!!! TAKE HIM!

He's a really nice guy. His British accent made you feel like James Bond was teaching information systems; which was pretty cool. His tests are based on his study guide, the lab tests/assignments are based on what you do in class. Don't bother emailing him, he never responds which is the only con about this class. Overall easy B class.

Would definitely recommend taking Newby's class. I was clueless about this class when I signed up, but ended up learning a lot. Homework is easy, as long as you don't want till the last minute. Tests are easy as long as you do the HW.

I came into this class not knowing anything about programming but walked away with an A. He's a great teacher with a great attitude. I read through the chapters to figure out what programming is all about and paid attention. Perfect professor for first-time programmers!

Definitely recommend him! Professor Newby is nice and grades fairly easy on the assignments, which require you to use Access and Excel. Study guides are not that helpful at all, so just read the textbook when you study for the exams and you will do fine. Got lazy throughout the semester and didn't go to class but still got a B.

i NEVER go to class and i have a 141/150 right now in the class. thats a 95%, i'm positive i'm going to finish off the semester with an A. just make sure you do the assignments and understand what you're doing. the practice exams are exactly like the real ones, and the lab tests are open book.

Newby is so nice! The class is pretty boring, but it's passable. Do the assignments, as there aren't many of them and they are worth a lot of points. If you are having trouble in class, visit his office--he is so helpful and actually wants students to pass the class! He will help you out and give advice to pass.

If you want an A: use his study guides and take the online quizzes for each chapter. Start your Access and Excel assignments as soon as they are assigned and do his practice tests before the exam. It's not that much work if you plan it out. And if you are already good at this stuff, this will be the easiest class!

Class isn't mandatory. Shouldn't even go, the class is SO boring. Three types of tests, Text books, Excel, and Access. Text book tests you can just read power point slides to sly by with a C, and Access and Excel programs you NEED to do the homework to pass them. Homework takes a long time so don't leave it off for the last day, it takes hours.
