Comment:

This was by far the best class I have taken this semester. Singer was fun and caring with her students and you could tell she was really interested in the work she was teaching. The course content itself was bland and boring but Singer made it worthwhile by engaging with the class and giving great advice on how to improve.

You have to attendend class because her slide shows arent complete. Most of the things she will test you on will be discussions you will be having in class. I think that kind of sucks. You have to remember A LOT of definitions and texts. You will be tested on all of them

Great prof for a seminar class. I took her signature class ENGL3940, which focuses on trauma and memory studies. This is one of the most valuable an interesting classes I have taken postsecondary to-date. She assigns a lot of reading that will be required to do well on assignments/tests. Requires active participation, this is not a free credit.

Singer is an excellent teacher. Whether or not you're interested in the course material, she makes the course worth attending, and chooses excellent texts to work with. Easy marker, but a stickler for grammar!

In my four years at Guelph, Singer was my favourite professor by far. She is very knowledgeable, has clear instructions, a fair marker, and is very approachable. I loved the material we studied and how she approached teaching it. My favourite classes (and highest marks) were with this wonderful professor. I highly recommend her.

nicest lady around. she does pick favourites, but it isn't hard to be one. just raise your hand in class and give suggestions! thats the only criteria and she'll love you. shes very easy going, very approachable and she wants to help you. ive had her twice and they are always my least-stress class because she's so understanding!

Professor Singer is an insult to the English Dept at Guelph. Not only does she pick favourites, but she chooses certain students to "make an example of." Your marks do not represent your success within her class, they illustrate whether she likes you or not.

I am currently in Professor Singer's fourth year seminar, and I really enjoy her as a prof. I think she is the most motherly English prof around! Super friendly, always smiling, fair marker,fair amount of work. I think that if you do you work, and show effort, you will do great in her course!

I don't know if she doesn't understand questions or if she would just rather not answer them, but either way she is absolutely no help at all and will often get you even more confused then you were to start with...

If I ever have to hear her explain "discourse" I'll shoot myself. She can't explain anything clearly, and her lectures along with her voice will lull you to sleep. Don't go to lectures, however go to every seminar because the TA made everything as clear as crystal. Thank God for the TAs. Bottom line, Singer should just stick to being a grandma...

Even in a DE course she is as unclear and as unhelpful as she seems to be in all of these assessments. Don't bother asking questions, I don't believe she can understand sentences well enough to give an answer. Even point blank questions were not answered. (she did reply, but did not address the question). TA's are good.
