English major here, Stanbury was my sophomore year crawpoetry prof. she is very liberal, which was nice as basically any idea, (ANY) idea you threw out there about poem analysis was usually creditable in some way during in-class discussion. She is a very difficult grader which is in stark contrast to her liberal views, good luck to the gents ; )

Stanbury is a joy to listen to each day, she has crazy random ideas and is not afraid to talk about the secual innuendos going on under the text. She's entertaining and teaches the material well. Office hours are definitely helpful if you need help on essays. only 4 essays and a few quizzes, very fair grader.

Don't waste your time with Prof Stanbury. While she's not as bad as the comments here say, there are many better professors at HC. She gives a lot of stupid busywork and while she is knowledgeable about Medieval lit it's just not worth it. Fulfill your requirement with someone else.

I didn't think prof stanbury was particularly difficult, and you've obviously never been anywhere more liberal than holy cross is you think SHE's a feminazi. i thought the class was interesting, i learned a lot, and i definitly enjoyed prof stanbury's teaching

Stanbury is an excellent prof, she is extremely intelligent and choose uncommon, diverse readings for class. People who don't do well in her class just aren't working and are making excuses for themselves.
