Comment:
You need an interest in film to take this course. Takes dedication. Quizzes (7) aren't too bad if you take good notes. No midterm or final so focus is on your films. Stein is extremely knowledgeable and I learned so much from this course. But she is honest with criticism for your benefit. Favorite prof. at NCSU. These old ratings are not accurate.

Comment:
Be warned, this is by far not an easy class. If you really want to learn about technique and the art, then take this class with Dr. Stein. She's incredibly blunt which hurts at first but helps in the long run and is the best professor I have ever had. Period. The textbooks are a must.

Comment:
BEWARE, while Film production is a great course, the quizzes are impossible and given before she lectures on the material, which is NOT intuitive. Time constraints for projects are tight and she is very opinionated, which is unfortunate since your grades are almost entirely based on her opinion of your film.

Comment:
She's inaccessible, not in her office even during office hours (at least 2 yrs. ago, anyway), and has a tendency to disregard the presence and opinions of all males in the class - indeed, a solipsistic disregard for any dissenting opinions, even when supported by research.

Too worried about tenure to even realize she's a teacher.
