Comment:

Lots of reading and posting of discussion boards. If you know the material and like to write, you can do well in his class. If you have any questions, he is very willing to help. He responds quickly and will even call on the phone, if need be. Very nice man.

Comment:

Had some reservations because Dr. Schaden is a minister, but his religiosity did not impact the coursework. He provided helpful anecdotes, and contributed to the discussions in a way that would further the conversation, not just "correct" it. Exam questions were somewhat confusing, but I'm sure he would be happy to clarify if you emailed him.

Comment:

Lots of reading a tests are difficult. Two essay tests, two graded discussions and a 200 page paper. Total points possible is 1000. You have mandatory Discussions that are not graded but if you miss, you lose 10 pts. He is a good teacher. Seems difficult but wants you to learn. Essay paper is intimidating, but I got a 200/200. I recommend him.

I didnt like this subject before I joined this class. The style of topic discussion will open up your mind. As long as you do the reading and prove it by discussiong your ideas will your classmates you cant go wrong. Mid-term and final were 10 essay questions that were difficult, but he posts them days in advance so get em early!!

His style of teaching revolves around the students actually trying in his class. With that said when he sees you care, he cares just as much and goes way out of his way to help. He is also really comprehensible and really fair. He is also very interesting and not one of those profs that ask your to regurgitate what he wants to hear. I love him.

This class is hard. I had it online and there is a lot of reading involved. The questions are very involved to the point where you need a firm grasp of the content. If you keep up, you will get a good grade. The key here is to really read the book. DB was mandatory and there is a RS paper involved. Three tests, half essay, half T/F. That's it.

He comes off as an old guy who doesn't care about the class, but when it comes down to he he is very helpful. He called me at home on three occasions to help me with problems I had asked him about in my e-mails. This is a very difficult class, but he really does try to help you succede if you put forth the effort.

This professor is awsome i have never been a good student but i was really trying and he saw that and meet with me outside of class as well as in class. i would really recomend him. he makes it fun to learn. And his tests were all take home and verry easy most of the time they were short sa's. verry good

Generally nice guy, albeit a little politically liberal contrary to his philosophical disposition. The class was straightforward after I figured out the discussion nonsense. Just spent a little time with it. I didn't do the reading, just covered what I needed to while taking untimed comprehensive tests, and learned quite a bit in the class.

He is a very nice person and smart too. When I took his class, his test were take-home and you got to grade them yourself. Alot of people dropped his class after the first few weeks because he makes the class out to be more difficult than it actually is. Don't believe it!

Be aware of this man if you are taking an online course. Very smart, not very clear or complete when it comes to understanding. Things are his way or the highway. Test are easy but once again the essay's are his way or the highway. He is willing to help understand but his way of understanding.

I took this class online, and I think a lot of teachers think it's totally easy to do an online class when it's really harder. Dr. Schaden really knows how to conduct an online course, so I'd reccomend him if you want to take a course on the internet.
