IF YOU ARE TAKING ENGLISH 101, HES THE RIGHT PROFESSOR. Very very very caring, also great vibes. Those who rated him poorly, they probably were the ones who never showed up to class or completed the assignments. If you need a better understanding of work hes always in his office. He also has food, incase you havent ate. Wonderful teacher.

Dr. Steven Berg is a wonderful teacher, he brings great vibes, explains the material better if you dont understand it. Hes very caring with students, wants everybody to pass. We watch videos, have class conversations, write papers. If youre absent you can email him and explain why. I wish he was my teacher for every class. HES THE BEST.

An excellent professor. He is very interested in teaching vs giving a grade. Gives unlimited re-do opportunities to ensure you learn the subject.

The class is technically called modern world history, but Dr. Berg switched between showing us movies and lecturing about whatever he wanted. You learn and do nothing the whole semester and then are expected to do three big projects the last two weeks with no guidelines at all.

This professor made this class so fun. Dr. Berg offered lots of different ways to learn about film in this class, and he is super understanding. Grades well, and he gives good feedback on papers. There was a power outage 3 weeks before our final, and Dr. Berg said he would accommodate students who were affected by this. He is also quite humorous.

Horrible teacher. Unorganized, inconsistent grading, lacks structure, arrogant, lectures not related to class or subject rather his personal life, assignment come out of no where and are difficult to understand what he wants- no objectives. Waste of my time and money . Do not reccomend this teacher. Dont these people get evaluated?

I would not recommend taking this professor. I feel like he picked on me personally and didn't care about what I had to say. He gave me an incomplete in the class and I do not think I deserved that grade. I did everything that everyone else did and I was the only one that he did not pass. His class is unstructured and will ramble on about nothing.

Dr. Berg is the best professor i've taken at SC. He is genuinely a very caring person with a big heart. He is always there to help, even offers students home cook meals/snacks. If you show up to class, partially engage in class, there is no reason to not 4.0 his class. I am in disbelief of how he has such a low rating. He deserves a 5 star.

Professional but casual. Everyone complaining probably wanted a teacher who would hold their hand; Dr. Berg shows how to research and then encourages students to learn independently. We're all adults, guys. Come on.

Having Prof. Berg can go 1 of 2 ways; if you want an easy A for the class by doing p much only 1 assignment that you get plenty of time to work on, you'll love it. You don't learn much bc his classes are so unstructured, so don't take a class from Berg if you need/want to improve or gain any new skills. He will offer extra assistance if needed tho

Gives veryloose directions, lot of class discussions and his class is unorganized but I like it. I would call it Flexible rather than unorganized. Show up everyday, however Dr. Berg is very accommodating and understanding as long as you send him an email before the class(s) your missing. I've taken him for ENG-101 & ENG-102. A caring professor!

This is not your typical professor. If you are the kind of student that needs specific guidelines and rubrics for a project he is NOT for you. Very friendly and flexible, although not the most organized. He listens to what his students are saying and applies it to future lectures.

Dr. Berg is a wonderful teacher. He goes above and beyond to help his students. If you dont pass you tried to fail. It's that simple. He is NOT your normal teacher who gives you work and does not make you think. Will be taking him again.

Dr. Berg is a nice and well meaning professor, but his class is very unorganized. I felt like I didn't learn much from his teaching style, which was watching a film and discussing it. He also threw us all the projects in the last few weeks of class which was quite stressful. He does not use rubrics because he believes it restricts creativity :/

This man is the not only the worst professor I have ever had, he is the worst teacher I think I have ever had. He hates girls, he is full of himself, and he is just rude. He has ridiculous expectations, and his class is boring. Do not take this class if you have anything that will prevent you from giving this class 100% of your time and energy.

So I took this class for a requirement. I never missed a class and I sent in all my work he responds with received. I assumed everything is good. Two weeks before class ends he sends an email telling us our grade gives me a 2.0 and says that some of my assignments weren't not up to standards. I ask in person how to do it right and he doesn't expla

Get use to hearing "Write about whatever inspires you." He isn't the teacher to give you cut dry witting topics. So if you need a cut dry topic don't take this class; however if you can gather ideas from the interesting topics discussed, then he's your guy. I personally LOVE the freedom of choosing my own topics. The book is amazing!!!!
