Comment:
Dr. Pollard only teaches from the white board and his handwriting is very hard to read. His weekly quizzes are way harder than they need to be and he has told me he tries to trick people with the wording. He expects us to read a good 30-80 pages a night for the next class.

Dr. Pollard is an excellent professor. The course is heavily centered around Don Quixote, so you may hate everything Don Quixote by the time the semester is over. Regardless, I learned a lot from this course and recommend it to anyone who is willing to put forth the effort. Includes 2 group presentations, 4 papers, & the final research paper.

Dr. Pollard's a great professor, and you can tell he really enjoys what he's teaching. We read a lot of novels and pretty much have papers due on each one. It's a fast paced course, and he can be a tough grader in terms of the papers. I would recommend him for any English course!

Comment:
Professor Pollard makes every class enjoyable. You can expect to have 3-5 page papers due once every 2 weeks, but he is not the toughest grader. If you show up to class, pay attention and turn papers in on time you should receive a B in the class. His classes are not boring but focus heavily on the books. Overall, good professor and great guy.

Although Pollard's tests are challenging, he is not a tough grader. Make sure you read the literature he assigns because you will need to know it for the weekly quizzes--which are not multiple choice or fill in the blank. Pollard brings the literature to life through class discussions and group projects. I signed up for two more classes with him.

Pollard is a good professor. If you are going to major in english take him, if you do not plan on majoring in english or just do not have an interest in english do not take him. Kinda dry lectures, overall class is pretty straight forward

I really enjoyed Dr. Pollard as an instructor! He's a fair grader, makes the curriculum interesting, is professional, and is highly knowledgable on the material. He actually teaches unlike some professors that make you read everything and just test out, so show up to class and participate and you'll get a good grade.

Awful teacher. Never had a worse professor at CNU. He's not helpful, is extremely confusing, and hard to understand. Nice person, but not a good professor.

Chinese Poetry is a pretty terrible subject. It's hard to work with translated works that have lost their rhythm and, in some cases, meaning. But Dr. Pollard did the best he could with it. He was very accommodating and obviously worked hard when preparing for this class.

I could just not get an A on his papers. Very frustrating. Hated Don Quijote. However, he was nice and casual. Definitely knows his subject well. Very understanding. You can turn things in late if you have a valid excuse. He is a bit disorganized though.

He's a great guy and great teacher! Reading quizzes almost every class, so be sure to do the homework. Not always clear in class, but if you ask him, he explains what he wants really well, and is really helpful. Other than being sick of Don Quijote by the end of the semester, I totally loved this class and I would totally recommend him for 308W.

Pollard is a great teacher. He definitely cares about what he's teaching and will help you as much as he can. If you are having trouble figuring out what to write about, he can help. Reading quizzes are easy so long as you keep up with the reading. The class is reading/writing intensive but Pollard keeps it reasonable.

This class was about food studies which was not clear and it was hard, lots of readings and assignments, for papers really try to include all of the things he asks. If you ask him he will give you a lot of help when writing these papers. A lot of the assignments in and out of class seemed kinda stupid and we did the same ones multiple times.
