One of my favorite professors at QU. Participate in class and voice your opinion and you will do well. Very clear grading criteria. Midterm and Final. Both were easy if you read some of the book and paid attention in class. Highly recommend taking this course.

best prof at qu, i am taking him again for that reason. sure he does lecture a lot but he does emphasize what is important or what you don't need to write down. just talk to him after class, even ask him to summarize what you learned in class and he will give you a 5 minute summary on the important parts. he genuinely cares about students! :)

spends 4 weeks talking about the international political economy and then the rest of semester different groups with assigned classes leads the classes. there's 3 papers in response to the group presentations and a final. Overall a nice guy who wants you to be engaged in discussions

Comment:

Professor Duffy is one of the best professors at Quinnipiac. Our PO101 section was Environmental Politics and Policy, a subject that is somewhat rare at QU. This class changes your thinking about environmental issues and urges you to get involved, while teaching you generic political science terms. If you have the opportunity to take him, do it!

Professor Duffy is an all around great professorperson. I don't know how anyone could have anything bad to say about him. His classes have a lot of reading, assignments and required participation but that is only because he wants his students to learn and grow in his classes. He is incredibly intellectual so try and see the positives in his class

Professor Duffy was really nice and helpful. He made QU101 easy which it is supposed to be. Take him if you can for QU101. He never takes attendance and doesn't care if you come to class, he also grades really easily and gives everyone an A.

HORRIBLE teacher. Basically just spoke and smiled the whole class about constructing an argument. Not even want the class was suppose to be about but apparently he learned it over the summer and decided to teach a bunch of confused students. AVOID he is a tough grader and expects ridiculous requirements for his papers. I LEARNED NOTHING

i HATED this class and i'm sure i can speak for every other person who took this course with me. he took literally 3 months to grade my papers so i had absolutely no idea what my grade was until the week before finals (now). he will talk and write on the board the entire class while everyone just sits there confused. definitely avoid. hard grader

Took for Int'l Relations. He wants you to read a lot which most kids don't. It's really not that necessary to do well. You will do a fair amount of writing as he's dept chair but he's extremely nice and pretty helpful. Does not grade too hard either. A lot of short papers/assignments as opposed to any huge one. I would recommend Prof Duffy.

Took Duffy for Foreign Policy. Class requires a lot of reading and short essays (3 pages). Duffy is a very nice guy. If you put in a decent amount of work you can get an A. The class can be boring at times but it's not too bad. Would prob recommend to any Poly Sci major.

I had Professor Duffy for QU101 and I really enjoyed the class. He made class discussions interesting and relevant to our lives. You have to be willing to work in the class but it is not hard to get an A. Professor Duffy is a great guy definitely take a class with him if you can!

Hands down best professor I've had not only all year but possibly in my entire academic career. Easy easy class...no tests, midterm, or final, just 4 or 5 papers througout the semester. Will change the due date to help students, easy work, fun conversations in class. And the absolutely nicest man I've ever met.Everyone loved him!
