Comment:
Mass of confusion with lots of homework. I think she just threw lots of homework our way just to prove she can. Her due dates are on week days as well as weekends OMG. Not recommended if you work full time, full-time school with a family. Good only if you have extra time on your hands. Intelligent professor & nice.

Bad communication with class, Often late to class, and not very useful. Not a professor I would recommend based on my experience with her.

I took Dr. Lightner in 1986. Glad to she she is still the same! Why, because she set me on the path to becoming a CPA. I passed exam first try, she is a big part of the reason why. Sure it is hard, if accounting is your goal, take this class. If you are attempting to get another business degree and need an accounting class, maybe not.

Dr. Lightner is very knowledgable herself, but her class just freaked me. Her weekly homeworks take atleast 20 hrs to do with a group, her exams are extremely tough, she herself doesn't even show familiarity to her own students outside class. Unless u want a challenge something, never take more than 6 units with this 620 class.Big Curve at the end

Plus:lots of info, learn a lot, high quantity of hw gives lots of practice with new concepts, Prof is cool/makes jokes, fair tests, lots of resources. Minus: tons of very difficult hw, must teach yourself a lot, takes days to do each hw, lectures start/end late, prof changes hw often, sometimes disorganized. btm line: gt rdy to wrk hrd.

I could not stand my pathetic classmates. Sharon is great. She does not make the class hard. The class is hard for you because your parents let you eat paint chips as a child.

Sure, you learn a lot, but only because you have to study like crazy on your own. Lightner has nothing to do with how much you learn since her lectures are worthless. I would have learned just as much without going to her lectures. In addition, she tends to ignore the students she doesnt like. Doesnt even say hi to them when greeted.

Wonderful woman. I learned more about accounting in this class than all my other classes combined. If she acts tough on the first day don't believe her, she's really a sweetheart.

Say good bye to your friends, family and social life while taking this class. Do the homework and make sure you understand it very well, otherwise, you are screwed on the tests. Class is a killer, but you will learn a lot.

This is by far the hardest class you will ever take. She is very upfront and honest of what she expects of you throughout the course, but it's almost as if she's TOO hard. She keeps you in class longer than the scheduled time and be prepared to spend the whole weekend doing homework that is almost impossible to get full credit on.

Really hard class. I cried at least twice during the semester (cried more during 321 though). I like her, but there's way too much information to absorb. Don't even think of missing a day. Study a lot. She likes to take what you've learned and mix it all up on tests. I ended up with a C.

Acted like this was the only class you had for the semester! Very cold person. She was so bad, I tried to drop the class, but she wouldn't sign off - even though I just missed the deadline. I eventually stopped going to class, took an "F" and did grade forgiveness under a more reasonable professor. My only grade ever lower than a "C."

She is not as bad as some make her out to be. I think she explains things very well. Just don't ask her any questions. And be aware that one minute she will talk about capital leases and the next she will be asking all of us if we think everyone in the accounting program should own a laptop. She is a little scattered, but she is a nice person.
