This class is definitely not the easiest. Especially if you don't really know much about politics. It really depends on the TAs. They make the test and they grade the test/papers. Going to lecture is helpful because bowler does a good job clarifying confusing topics. It's not an easy A, but if you put a lot of effort you can get a good grade

Bowler is awesome!1 take home midterm and 1 take home final with more than enough time to do them.No reason not to get an 'A' in this course.He is funny, engaging, and caring.Makes you want to come to lecture every day. Ends every lecture with "...land of mystery!" You'll understand if you take him.If he's teaching than take him, you wont be sorry.

Cares about your progress, and cares that you understand the material. He sometimes goes off on tangents, but always brings it back around and drives the point home. One take home midterm and take final, each worth 50 percent of your grade. They weren't difficult, just tedious - he gives you more than enough info to answer the questions.

Bowler is hands down the best political science teacher at UCR. His lectures are well organized (even if his hand writing is a tad messy), his humor will keep you listening, and an extremely nice person. Take him whatever the class.

I thought he was a great teacher. He has a great sense of humor and does a really good job of explaining the topics. You need to go to lecture because there's no slides posted online or anything. I studied pretty hard for tests and I got A's on everything.

Bowler is by far the best POSC professor Ive had at UCR. Hilarious & keeps you entertained. Attendance is crucial; no slides. Notes are taken as he speaks. However explains things very well. Only main book needed is the "power & choice"; don't bother getting the others. 1 paper and 2 midterms. Just go to class & take notes.

This prof. defintely knows his material well. I have to admit however that i never looked forward to going to his class. I think it was just me though cuz he's got a british accent and i have more trouble than others understanding. but good class and interesting material. no need to purchase books or read, but get your a** to class and you'll pass
