Comment:
If you are someone like me who is not the best at math DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH GUTH. I am an A and B student and I tried everything and got a D in this class. I did the homework but the exams are worded differently and extremely difficult. He also does not teach what other intro stats classes are learning. As a prof. he is so confusing.

Professor Guth is literally the cutest old man. He only uses the blackboard to teach, which I love. He doesn't take attendance, but if you don't come to class, you won't pass, because he uses the textbook more as a supplement than as an outline to the class. Very knowledgeable and clear.

Professor Guth uses a blackboard instead of Powerpoints. No notes or learning objectives are posted online, & do not reflect the text. His emails are confusing when grammatically correct and indecipherable when not. His assignment sheets are completely disorganized. He's probably a good researcher and grandfather, but a good teacher he is not.

Don't buy the book and don't skip class. Sit close to the board in hopes that you'll be able to read his handwriting. He skips around a lot so try to keep up. Be ready to teach yourself. The attendance is not mandatory but you need to go in order to understand the material.

He mumbles, his hand writing is that of a child and you can hardly understand what he is trying to teach. A lot of the time he will write notes on the board and half way through tell you that you don't have to record it in your note book, thusly confusing the hell out of you because you don't know what to and what not to write down.

Comment:
If you go to class and pay attention, put in a few hours before each exam, there is no way you can't get an A. The material is straightforward, and the exam questions are just like the workbook. However, if you don't do the work, you won't be able to do well. His exams are specific to his lectures and workbook, and any other answer is wrong.

Comment:
His teaching style is very terrible and hard to follow. By using only the blackboard for notes, it makes concepts not only hard to read, but also hard to understand. He uses context specific terms interchangeably with other context specific terms, which will confuse the crap out of anyone. Only 4 tests, no points for HW or EC given.

review workbook problems, recognize all tests are structured the same, sit close to the front. He knows the material, just makes constant mistakes which may confuse some. Overall it is really low stress.

Ended up dropping the class because it was so difficult. His handwriting was awful, and that was the only notes he would take. No power points or hand outs. For a stats class, do not take him unless you're comfortable with teaching yourself the whole semester.

The first thing one should know is that this professor has a policy of giving out negative points on exams. He does not use the book he supposedly requires and the notes he writes on the board are usually incomplete and illegible. He does not explain the concepts and cannot seem to give a straight answer to any question. He makes mistakes daily.

Dont bother with the book. Teaching the class seems like a chore to him, and he teaches only from blackboard with very incomplete and difficult to understand notes.

He explains the material well but his communication is lacking. His handwriting is poor and he is older and it's hard to understand his speaking sometimes. The AI's were helpful. If you take the optional final it replaces your lower test grade.

Prof is traditional but not that hard. Attend EVERY class, copy everything from blackboard, and save your questions for the TAs during their office hours (they were very helpful!) Don't ask questions in class. I wish I hadn't bought the textbook, waste of money and tests are based entirely on the workbook which is based entirely on his class notes.

Guth knows his subject too well and doesn't really care if he's really translating his information clearly in the minds of the students. The text book was useless, and the notes incomplete or varied enough to confuse you on homework. The AI gave little to no assistance and at least 5 people got demeaned when they tried to ask questions in class.

Only take stats with Guth if you can teach yourself. He is difficult to learn from and the AIs canceled their office hours ALL THE TIME. Homework isn't collected. Tests are hard, only a few questions so you have to do well.

DO NOT TAKE STATS WITH GUTH. He does not even use the textbook, and you cannot follow along with the textbook because it is completely different than what he teaches. He does not explain material well and will make you feel stupid if you ask a question in class.

Great and knowledgeable professor. He made it really clear that all you need to do is to attend EACH AND EVERY CLASS and you would score an easy A. He teaches everything that he would include in the exam and even gave a review session prior to any exams. What you really need to do is to pay attention in class, which make his class never boring.

You have to go to every class, because you can't really keep up and the book looks like a different language because he teaches everything in a completely different way. Also, there's only like six questions on all the tests so you really can't mess up, but if you go to all the lectures you can probably get a good grade.
