Maybe the worst experiences I have ever had with a professor. He is probably a nice person outside of the classroom. He doesn't explain the material and expects you to already know everything. He says he is willing to help you, but then gets frustrated when you ask a question or makes you feel dumb. Don't know grade. BEWARE OF THIS PROFESSOR

Comment:

This is the second worst teacher I've had for math. He likes to "Eat Steps" for parts he thinks you should know which only leaves you confused as you try to catch up to what he's doing. He doesn't realize that not everyone can always keep up and it's very hard to follow him. He is a nice person but a terrible teacher. STRONGLY SUGGEST AVOIDING!

Comment:

Professor Gupta was a super nice man with an intense passion (or obsession) for mathematics. He was funny, sweet, and meant well. However, he was not a great teacher. His teaching methods and lectures were very hard to follow. I had to teach a lot of the material to myself after class. It was an easy math, so I still got an A, but he didn't help.

One of the worst professors I've ever had. Gets upset when you do not understand something or ask questions. Gives quizzes like every class and does not thoroughly discuss material.

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS IM TELLING YOU. he doesnt use d2l & no one knows what their grade is. Gives impossible pop quizzes every class that everyone fails. He does problems & skips steps bc were supposed to know it and asks if we follow him & NO ONE DOES but he moves on. This class was IMPOSSIBLE with him & its sad bc calc is fundamental class

Currently taking him and is probably one of the worsts professors I ever had. He will not review any material, he expects you to remember all your algebra. His examples are taken out of the book and he prints them out. So you don't always get an explanation on the steps. He expects you to learn everything just by giving you sheets from the book.

Very hard to understand. Goes fast. We had a quiz pretty much every week. I got 9/10 and 10/10 on almost every one of them, got an A on one test and a B on another, then did okay on the final and some how got a C overall. When I emailed him - no reply. When we took the final he wasn't even there, and the women who was there was no help.

Lots of quizzes, hard to understand, and grade heavily depends on quizzes and tests rather than other assignments and homework. When the class fails a test or quiz, he is usually understanding and won't count it, but otherwise this class was one of the most stressful and unenjoyable classes I have taken.

Shiv Gupta is completely horrible... Literally makes you feel like an idiot if you don't get anything and acts like everything is common sense. Not good at explaining, just rights things on board and expects you to understand. His accent makes it nearly impossible to understand, overall worst teacher at West Chester, do not take!

He says that you should study 2 hours for each class he teaches, and he means it. Though, not for the reason he thinks: the course isn't hard, but he teaches so poorly and with such an unintelligible accent that you'll be doing half the lecture by yourself with the book later on. Take another course, it's not worth the effort.

Dr. Gupta was a great professor who loves what he does, he likes to make jokes and tell stories but goes over problems when you ask him to repeat so you can understand. He is a relatively easy grader and lets you use notes and a cheat sheet on tests and quizzes.

Dr. Gupta isn't the best professor in the world. He gets on your case when you're taking notes on how to do the problems, and then he gets mad when you can't solve said problems instantly. He also hates calculators, but allows them on exams. Finally, he has a tendency to call out and embarrass students. His class is pretty easy, though.

He's passionate about the subject but not always clear in his explanations. The grading was a joke; he gave B's to people who couldn't even form a coherent thought or do basic computations, and everyone else got A's.

Comment:

A class act; jovial, easy going, humorous. It was an honor to be in Dr. Gupta's Number Theory class. He not only loves the subject but is a master of it. His homeworks are hard and his tests will drench every ounce of brain power, but his compassion is boundless. Indeed, his teaching is a bit convoluted and scattered, But he grades you with grace.

Comment:

A class act. Jovial, charismatic and humorous. It was a pleasure and honor to be in Dr. Gupta's class. This is Number Theory, he loves NUMBER Theory. As an instructor though his approach was hard to follow, he's a bit convoluted. His assignments are brain blasting for sure. All in all he understands and grades you according to your effort.

Shiv Gupta is the worst professor I've ever taken. Makes you feel like an idiot when you ask a question. Gives homework assignments on material that he hasn't taught yet, and expects you to get the right answer, and makes it seem like getting the answer was common sense. Shows you easier methods of doing problems after you've already been tested.

Took mat 105 my first semester and failed miserably. Took it second semester with shiv expecting to fail again because of reviews but he was the easiest teacher and I ended the semester with a B. His lectures seem hard and I did horrible on all quizzes but he passed me with a B still. One of the most caring professors I've had
