Hes hands down the best prof at Mac. If you attend the lecures, take note during lectures and study the reading you should have no problem getting a double digit in his courses. Hes so funny and makes the classes so exciting.

Comment:

Wood had a lot of interesting stories that made classes enjoyable and concepts memorable. Tests (2 midterms and a final) were very fair if you put a little effort into taking notes during class and did the small amount of readings he clearly stated would be tested (put out study guides for every test). Doesn't post notes online.

Amazing professor! Funny, easy to talk to and very entertaining! EXTREMELY HARD CLASS! Marks are solely based on multiple choices (two midterms and one final exam). The multiple choices are really difficult considering there were so many questionable tricks to it. Not a bird course.

This has been one of the most interesting classes I've ever taken. It was a Monday night 3-hour lecture and I looked forward to it all week long. If you genuinely just enjoy film, you'll love this class. If you're paying attention in class its pretty easy, if you don't, then you might have a hard time.

Test questions are extremely tricky (A,B,C,A+B,All of the above etc.). I studied the material through and through for over a week and knew everything. But his tests are purposely tricky. Judging by the 2nd set of exam results, it looks like a lot of people struggled too. NO extra credit is offered. This is my only class that won't be a 12.

Simon Wood is one of the best professors I have ever had at McMaster. He teaches music so passionately that content ends up sticking in your head. Tests are fair and the textbook is required.

Best professor I've ever had, his lectures were fun and very informative. This is definitely the best class I've ever had. I'm passionate about music and Prof. Wood has a rare gift transmiting his passion as well! Overall amazing.

Hes THE BEST! He truly cares about his students and is the funniest pro ive ever had. However, the midterms and exam were a little challenging but you can definitely get a double digit without putting too much effort. Also, if youre ever confused with anything, you can just email him and he gets back to you in less than a day. Amazing prof.

THE REAL DEAL. Great man, great prof. Sometimes he repeats stories he already told (I'm guessing he forgot he already told them) and it's so cute and funny, if a little flustering. He's so versed and knowledgeable and truly loves what he teaches. One of McMaster's gems.

Simon Wood is extremely engaging, every class is fun to be in. Its definitely such an enjoyable elective. And every now and then, he blows your mind with cool facts. Textbook readings are given before every test and only questions from the pages he says show up on the test, so its not reading heavy. Definitely recommend this course and Music 2F03!
