Dr Xiao tries his best to set you up for success. He gives superb feedback and pushes his students a little further beyond their capabilities to make the best out of each individual. If you have a hard time understanding him with his accent, try meeting him one on one and he will explain things clearly.

As a person he's fine, but as a professor not so much. He practically baby feeds you all the information (especially in labs), doesn't explain questions well, pretty much just teaches you how to template questions, and overall you don't tend to learn much. The quizzes every week are nice, but even the tutorials don't even really help much.

When you ask for help he hard tries to explain but if you're still not getting it he'll do it for you. He also gives lots of helpful information in the prelab unlike other profs. I would recommend taking lab with him.

He is a nice person if you go discuss your personal problems with him. Overall he is supposed to teach you Chemistry which he can't at all. He is horrible you won't get a single thing in the class. You have to study on your own. Tutorial and Quizzes every week, group work questions. Chem labs are freaking hard, alot of quizzes and stuff.

First year chem lab with him is awesome if you know what you're doing. I just sat there and laughed at everything he said cuz his accent is so thick I couldn't understand anything he was saying. But he's the EASIEST maker EVER!

Learn the knowledgy and you will be fine, but there is so much of it that you may not be fine. Very kind professor- he is quite helpful when you ask questions, and he is to the point. The work is quite a bit to keep up with/not keep up with, so make sure to learn that knowledgy gooud. The chickenal tri-dinner is the trickiest aspect of the course.

Simon is a really nice guy, his class notes are ok. Quizzes every week are a lot of work to keep up on, but his midterm is very fair and his final exam isn't too awful. If you read the textbook and don't rely on his lectures you will be just fine (hard to understand him sometimes!)

Not only is he the hardest person to understand with his very thick accent, but he cant explain things in a reasonable manner. a language barrier stacked onto an inability to teach means you learn nothing since his notes have blanks that you need to listen to fill in. He is enthusiastic about chem, but is a horrible prof.
