Amazing prof. He wants you to pass. I've never had a more fair professor in my four years at MUN. Absolutely awesome. Doesn't teach like the rest, but that's a good thing. "The lowest mark you can get is your papers & final. I'll probably adjust the grading for at least a third of the class higher if you try"

I've done all Skips courses and I loved every single one of them! He is so knowledgeable, approachable and will help you in any way he can. He may be a little bit of a touch grader, but as long as you put effort into his class you will do fine. I've learned so much from him and would recommend highly!!

Skip is a great guy, but not a great prof. I have completed several courses with him and struggled to pass. He is a tough grader and his lectures sometimes get boring. With that being said, he is extremely knowledgeable and knows what he is doing. Skip is also a very understanding prof and will help you in any way he can.

GREAT Prof!! Cannot stress enough. Made class SO fun, I loved to go. Gave great notes and was very clear about what would be expected on papers and what was going to be on the final (open book final, at that). Made the course material interesting and fun! LOVED this prof! LOVED this course!

WHAT A HOOT! Seriously, Skip is one of the best profs I had during my 5 year university career. He is definitely passionate about what he teaches. He is truly concerned about how well students do in his courses. The final was open book and we could avail of his help. I am NOT a history buff, but he helped make it interesting! Love the course & him!

Simply put, Skip is the greatest most inspiring prof I have ever had. If you even have a remote interest in history, he will foster it and help it grow. Take at least one class with him during your undergrad!

Skip is just simply amazing! He is such a nice person and a great lecturer. His lectures were always interesting, a great person to listen to. Also, like most people I did not find him a hard grader at all. I didnt even put in 100% effort and got a 76%, take him!!

Skip, is an okay person, definitely one of the most laid back people you'll ever meet. However, his lectures are boring and unengaging, and he marks papers terribly hard. If you can write awesome papers take him.

Skip did not assign enough work, and his lectures contained no room for discussion. However, he made his arguments well, and was never single-minded. He inspired any willing student to consider a familiar topic from an unfamiliar historical angle, a difficult but essential task for any history professor. Recommended to all serious young historians.

Although I really liked Skip as a person I found he was a very hard grader and a boring lecturer. Classes were very unengaging, we were simply being talked at. Nevertheless I would advise histry students to take a class with him, he's a good prof.

Skip is a great guy and an awesome prof. The most easygoing and laid back prof I've ever met. Very down to earth and has genuine respect for students. He expects you to put a great amount of effort in to the papers, and as a result an A effort will get an A grade, which is the way it should be. I would take another course with Skip in an instant.
