He makes class fun. Knows his stuff plus more. A lot of class interaction. Never does PowerPoint. He doesn't really use books so taking notes is a must. I love his classes and I would take all my classes with him if I could.

Great guy! Everything he says is insightful and clever, class is conversation based rather than heavy notes or textbook reading. If you have the opportunity before he retires, I highly recommend you take him.

I've taken Spencer for many of my Psych classes.His teaching is excellent.He teaches more casual classes and the more serious topics.He IS not an easy A.It's simply because he teaches the material so well. Other Professors are just jealous of that.He is very friendly and considerate of students.His door is almost always open to students.

Anyone who says Dr. Spencer isn't helpful or isn't an outstanding professor might want to examine how they were as a student. If you don't care about his class, he might not be overly helpful. Why should he? He still won't turn anyone away. If you want someone to stand there and read the textbook to you, you probably won't like him either.

He is, hands down, the best professor at WVSU. The school is lucky to have someone who cares about teaching as much as he does, not to mention how well he knows the subject matter. If you leave his class without learning, I'm sorry, but it is your fault as the student. What could be better than receiving a quality education like this?

Dr. Spencer is one of the best teachers at WVSU. He makes topics interesting and has a sense of humor, which helps in class. His tests are pretty easy as long as you study. He answers all questions you have and is easy to get in contact with. He is a great professor!!

While I made good grades and generally enjoyed his classes, he was not very helpful. I got the impression he did not care about certain students. Which brings to light my observation that he tends to show favoritism, but it does not affect the grading for students. Apparently, if he does not like you much, he will not be helpful at all.

I try to take Dr. Spencer for every psychology class I need! I actually base my schedule around his class because he is SUCH a great professor. He kind of has a boring tone of voice but I enjoy the classes he teaches, and he's not a hard professor.

Dr. J is the bomb! A genuine and wonderful human who also teaches like no one else. Funny and intelligent, he produces student ready for the level they want to acheive and beyond. One of the best at WVSU.

By far the greatest professor at State. Not just my opinion but by all b/c Dr. Spencer has won several Best Professor awards. Take a look for yourself (Wallace, 9th floor, Psych Library - There's a plaque on the wall) He brings much needed humor to his classes. If you attend, take notes, give effort, & study, you should make no less than a B!

Is most likely the best teacher I have ever come across. He is a highly intelligent person who makes the class fun, interesting, and enjoyable with his sense of humor. Always willing to help a student out. He is the faculty advisor of Psi Chi and is always trying to enlist new members and is always doing charitable events to raise money.
