WWII History. Just had long essay exams, three to be exact, plus the final. Definitely need to read and attend class. Grading criteria is iffy. It depends on the strictness of the TA.

Dr. Hilton is a great professor, he knows so much about the subject matter and is obviously very passionate about it. You absolutely have to come to class as every day you're absent counts for 3 points against your final grade. Also be sure to do the readings as the exams are reliant on your knowledge of the subject.

His lectures are informative but he mentions his own political views way too often. I would like him better if he hadn't compared Obama to Hitler on the first day of class...

Dr. Hilton's lectures were interesting and informative. His tests are all essay. You must read the textbook and the additional readings to make a good grade. It sometimes felt like i taught myself about the wars. Dr. Hilton and his TA do not always communicate. Because the TA grades the tests, this can be a problem.

He was a cool guy and had good stories but he used no learning aids and his test where all essays and it was very hard to make As. It was my only C last semester. Must use the textbook for examples in your essays. The final however did have some multiple choice and identification but studying for it was like taking a shot in the dark.

Dr. Hilton is a great teacher. He's very interested in his subject, he answers any questions you have during the lecture, and he makes sure you understand exactly what you will be tested on. Even when I went to talk to him in his office, he was extremely nice and gave me the questions to the test and even helped me with graduate school in France!

He rambles off topic frequently, he takes attendance randomly so you have to go to every class. He is hard to follow and I would not recommend him for 2057. Do Not take his class!!

Dr. Hilton expects students to behave like decent human beings and not text or play on Facebook during class. He had a strict "be on time" policy and would even ask late students to leave, but he eased that policy as the semester went on. If you attend class very regularly, read the textbook, and study for exams, you won't have a problem.

Yes, Dr. Hilton is a staunch Republican. Yes, he grades harder than most professors. However, the amount of knowledge that Dr. Hilton has to offer is amazing. Years of experience and passion about History make for very interesting lectures. Plus, he's pretty witty.

I liked Professor Hilton, but his TA his horrible. It seems like he just hates the world, I never saw him smile. Hilton goes way off topic, but it's interesting. For an hour and half it was pretty dry.

Wort teacher I had at LSU! Only D I have ever made in my life. His TA was so terrible and fat and annoying. I went to his office for help and he insulted me. I think you should jump off a bridge before taking this class

Incredible class! Hilton is funny (dry humor) and massively informed (perhaps a product of living through the material). He's strict about attendance and class start times (you won't be admitted if late). He requires incorporation of the readings on tests. I can't imagine knowing a subject better than after taking a class with him.

I have no idea what these people are complaining about. Hilton expects people to behave as if they're students (coming to class... on time, read the material, be mildly sentient). I've never seen someone be better at historical context than he is. Along with the course material, this skill is an important outcome of his classes.

Hilton is fantastic. He knows his stuff, and I love the format of his tests, but this is far from an easy course. It's not for those who don't want to learn history.
