Comment:
I took 115Z with him but I wouldn't recommend taking 116. 115Z was a relaxed intro Calc course but 116 was slightly hellish. His courses revolve around mastering concepts and you get many opportunities to do that. 116 just had too much material,so he would move quickly and by the time you realize you had a question he would be 3 steps ahead.

Prof. Chang is a good teacher, however his grading policy is a bit strange. He assigned at least 2 psets a week each containing 20 questions that were extremely hard and completely irrelevant to the material we were tested on. If you want to get a good grade in his class I suggest you take Calc 2 with another professor.

Prof. Chang is very intimidating at first, but he is actually very funny and helpful when you know him better. Do not recommend his class to people who don't like math, but definitely recommend him to anyone who love math. The homework is hard, but not unreasonably so. His lecture is very clear.

This is definitely the hardest class of my Wellesley career, but it is also the most rewarding. Professor Chang expects a lot from his students and he ensures that we are working at our maximum potential. Yes, his homework is extremely hard and his tests are definitely a struggle, but he is so willing to help and he will ensure you get through!

MATH 215 with Chang was probably the hardest thing I've taken thus far, but he will not allow you to slip through the class. Take advantage of office hours, put in the right amount of work, and he will help you if you are willing to work.

Chang is funny, helpful and always willing to explain things. He moves really quickly, but I was never bored. He is probably the most significant reason I am majoring in math. P.S. he is so interesting that I want to have a Q&A session with him about everything! P.P.S. Best Halloween costumes ever. No argument.

Comment:
Professor Chang's class is difficult for those who are not math savvy, as he is a very fast paced teacher and his psets are difficult if you attempt them by yourself. I recommend a study group and attending office hours (which are the key to success). He is a very quirky and adorable teacher (although NOT huggable!) and being in class is very fun!

He is undoubtedly the best teacher that I have had at Wellesley. While he does expect a lot from his students, his method ensures that those truly invested in the class learn the material (and more). Finally, his office hours are incredibly entertaining- he is refreshingly honest to his students. In short, he takes math very seriously!

He should really be restricted to teaching classes for math majors only (ie, the highest level classes) because he was pretty inconsiderate and disdainful of students not majoring in math or science. He held himself in high regard, and made his p-sets nearly impossible to do without having to go to office hours, every time. I do NOT recommend!!

His math 205 seems to be extremely hard, though I just start it this week. He's a fantastic teacher. Hope I can survive this semester.

I guess there must be something wrong with me then. He was nice to the outgoing students that were there buttering him up at office hours but he was indifferent to my questions and in helping me out.

If you're smart enough to hack it, take a Stanley class. It's well worth the effort.
