Do all of the assigned homework and the example problems. Definitely take Apple for statics, it will be harder but will benefit you in mechanics of materials. Very helpful. Arrogant but in a funny way. Very helpful in class and in office. In general he is a great guy. AND GO TO CLASS!!!

Keep up with your homework. Expect low test grades at first, but he gives bonus. He lightens up a LOT toward the end of the semester. He MAKES you learn the material or drop. Don't like how he doesn't show how to do HW until next day of class (when it's due). You'll learn more taking him than anyone else in the dept.

Took him for Statics. Do not slack off or he will run you over. Keep up with all the reading material and make sure you understand it or ask for clarification in class. His tests are ridiculous, he really tests you on what you learned, don't expect to make 100's in this class. He does attempt to help you out with bonus points though...

People hate him in Mechanics of Materials because he's really hard, but he makes you learn it because you have to. He can be arrogant and make people feel stupid; however, he's probably the best TEACHER in the department. I've had them all, and he's the best, period. Take it from a senior who's had him 8 times.

The instructor subsitutes arrogrance for knowledge. I have yet to see him do any instruction, he comes into class and and says to read this section of the book and that is the extent of his teaching. Like any good carnival barker he puts the failure of the students on the students.
