Comment:
Gibson was nice, had a sense of humor, very lax, and obviously knowledgeable of the topics. She often dismissed differing opinions though if they didn't support her point. She gave quizzes that were ridiculously easy if you reviewed class notes. Only students who didn't read wouldn't do well and she still would try to adjust the test for them.

Shes a pretty good teacher, most of the class was lecture so participation matters. If there are any tests/quizzes then she'll definitely let you know before the class. Be respectful and kind and you will get on her good side which always helps. She'll only cancel class due to sickness which is rare so most of the time I was in class.

Comment:
Socially inept and extremely inappropriate. When we had her for portfolio, she invited guests from the design profession to talk to us about jobs. She sat in the back and chatted very loudly and some of us in the back could not hear. She snaps at students out of the blue. Andwhy is she the head of the design program? She has no competency in design

Professor Gibson means well and she knows her stuff. Her style is disorganized, but overall you will learn a lot. She gives a ton of reading, but if you try hard enough, you will see how the theories discussed transform your understanding of media. It's not a straight forward class, but if you engage the material, you will benefit tremendously.

Pay the crybabies no mind. Professor Gibson is an excellent teacher and I learned a lot in her Media Literacy class. If you make an attempt to understand the material, you can receive an "A".

Comment:
Stephanie steered off topic so often I lost count. She was sometimes overly harsh with students and tended to belittle in class. Very defensive about the way the class is structured and didn't want to hear any feedback from anyone that disagreed with her opinions. This class was disorganized and should have required more pre-reqs.

Comment:
She was rude, unprofessional and absolutely ridiculous. She absolutely gives good grades to people she likes. She is also really stuck on her one track thinking, which completely contradicts her THEORY class. CMAT 352 is not rocket science.... Get over yourself LADY. What you study is stupid!

First professor I have ever met that has her own agenda that has nothing to do with the students, design or education. Arrogant, bitter, unprofessional and selfish. The MA program needs fresh blood and this angry, disconnected person needs to go first. By the way, this class is a 100% FAIL.

This class is terrible. It's Gibson at her scatterbrained worst. She seems obsessed with relating everything know to mankind back to the holcaust. If this course were not required by the program I doubt anyone would take it.

Extremely unprofessional, rude, and frankly, not very bright, and arrogant, yet she does not have anything to back up her arrogance, she is coasting in he job until she can retire. Beware potential MA students, the faculty disrespect Pub Desgn students and only care about the MFA students, go somewhere else.

She loves the subject matter and made me love it too. She has a strong personality and some people clash with her but in my opinion she is kind, funny (sarcastic) and just doesn't put up with infantile stupidity. She expects that you think for yourself but not a hard workload. Really made subject matter interesting.

I had her for media literacy. i agree that if she likes you then u will do fine. She is funny but sometimes it can border the unprofessional line. Try to come on time because she does mark off + embarass late students. The class taught me a lot though. very informing. She likes talkers, so participate in class if you can.

Comment:
Surprisingly engaging teacher. Very opinionated. Was too harsh on people who struggled. Good class discussions. Class work load is ridiculous; because you're always in some phase of 2 projects, you never have time to develop strong concepts. In general, "good" designers were graded better than good writers. Not sure why.

she is my advisor in the Pub Design program. As my advisor, she has been combative, abrasive, and disrespectful when there has been no reason to be so. I told her that I wanted to take a course at another school she said, "I send me the info and I WILL DECIDE if this is a course you can take." Get real lady. It's an elective. She is ALWAYS mean.

Class was somewhat entertaining. Professor's instructions for assignments, and comments on work were very unclear and contradictory. Very difficult professor to please; I agree with the "bitter, angry" comment posted earlier. I thought this class was pointless and sucked the life out of an interesting topic.

If she likes you â€" that is, you agree with her or you share her beliefs â€" she'll find the justification to give you a good grade. If she doesn't, your loss (bad grade). Bottom line... if you kiss up, play nice, and revere her as a goddess you'll be fine. Don't get on her bad side!

Stephanie was sufficiently interesting and charismatic to hold my attention at 8am. Rhetoric has a circumlocutory quality that wears on the student after a while. She did accept a wide latitude of responses that made the writing fun. She did not return the finals, I doubt she even looked at them, and they were half our grade Overall I’d recommend.

I didn't think she brought any types of politics in class. Hey it's a class room, isn't that where we should be disscussing such issues? I loved the class. It opened my eyes and even made me think twice about what to do for graduate school. Love this teacher.
