I have such mixed feelings about professor Katz. He is really nice in person, the course content was interesting, his assignments are very heavily weighted (50% for a final paper), but interesting. He can be rude over email, seems like he doesn't care and is a little bit passive-aggressive. Proceed with Caution...

Steven Katz rocks!! He's one of the my favourite professors at Trent. If it wasn't for him, my career wouldn't be the one I have now. He encouraged me to do graduate studies, and he wrote me an amazing letter of reference, that helped me get into the Centre of Criminology at U of T. He gives great advice, and is a good friend. We keep in touch..

Had him last year. Unfortunately it was a lecture that had a lot of chatty people, which didn't help with understanding his accent. Bring a lap top because you can't keep up with the notes by hand. P.S. this course does NOT help you fot SOCI 210 or 215
