Yes the lectures are three hours long, but he gives plenty of breaks. Pay attention and have fun with writing and you'll do fine. He goes over all the material in class, no absolute need to buy the book or read it.

I had him for the Beatles class in Spring of 2006, which was probably the most amazing class I've ever taken. His lectures were incredibly informative and entertaining. If you have a chance to take a class with him, do it! Highly Recommended.
