Comment:
Stephen is very experienced and does not read off lecture slides. He adds on using examples. You don't really need the textbook, slides should be sufficient to do well in this course. Only downside is you don't really know what to expect for exams and marking scheme for the exam is unclear.

Half way through the semester and I realized that Spector is not the guy I should have taken this course with. For someone who emphasizes that accounting is all about practice, but DOES NOT provide the solutions for assignment problems after the assignments have been graded, I feel he has lost touch of what it is like to be a student.

Excellent professor. He is technical but also encourages his students to think outside the box. He cares about his students and is very responsive to requests for help. Best accounting professor I have had.

He's a very good prof and tries to explain everything clearly. What I liked most about his class is that he doesn't give exams based on dead theory/memory-based questions. Instead, he gives you cases and you are expected to answer accordingly. Very useful if you plan on taking CASB. One of the best in SFU!

He is a nice guy at heart. However, the main issue is that he subconsciously stereotypes students and assigns grades accordingly. What I am saying is, it is impossible to get a high mark if you're Asian and quiet in the class. Try to get to know him personally, talk in class, and become one of his favorites and you will do well regardless.

He has good personality and is willing to help you. However, he did not prepare IFRS material and is VERY disorganized. Sometimes he teaches IFRS and yet sometimes it's GAAP..extremely confusing. Does not show effort in making complex material easier to understand. I did not learn much from his 321..might have to redo.. NOT RECOMMENDED for 321

Stephen's a good teacher but an even better person. His courses themselves are okay, but the guy himself is awesome. One of my favourite instructors by semesters' end. Also applies to 424

That's the easiest course to teach. He doesn't have to say anything or provide any lecture notes because the students will do it for him. Do you want to study by using student-version powerpoint slieds? Good luck, then. They are not reliable and vague.

Lectures could be a bit better. Often time you hear a bunch of words and phrases all rushing into ur ears but u have no idea what he was talking about. Anyways Nice Prof! He likes to joke around sometimes, which makes the lectures a little less boring. Do ALL ur assignments and Redo them a few times to get good marks. Pretty Tough Exams!

Pretty nice professor. The materials are alright, but the last part of the course can be difficult. The exams and marking were fair as a whole. If you are going to take 254, Spector is a decent choice.

Dont go to the lecture it is a waste of time. He is an extremely nice person though. Read the book 4 times! thats all you need. AND do questions as much as you can. The materials are easy but questions can be confusing.
