He is AMAZING for upper level classes, he not only knows his stuff but he is engaged in it... many upper level classes have outlines of proofs instead of proofs given in class, Fisk tends to give outlines of outlines which is nice if you understand it, but difficult otherwise

Professor Fisk is clearly smarter than anyone, including you. Teaching Calculus is clearly a waste of his talents. Do not take a low level course with him, it will ruin your semester. Nice guy though

The absolute worst teacher I have ever had in college or high school. If you are not a math person, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I cannot emphasize how big of a mistake it was to take this class. He is totally unclear, does not answer questions and is probably the most awkward person alive. Class feels 3 hrs long b/c he talks sloowly and sidetracks himself.

He's HARD, expects you to work for huge amounts of time on his problem sets, unhelpful in office hours (he'll just tell you to go think about the problem some more), unclear in class (he'll do incomplete proofs and go through important stuff way too fast), and he teaches right out of the book. Tests are incredibly tough and he doesn't grade inflate

Fisk isn't a good calculus teacher;he is sick of teaching the same boring thing for so long.... but don't let all his bad rep from calculus stop you from taking an upper level class. Math 288 was the best class I've taken at Bowdoin, I wish the other math professors would take the little kid gloves off and teach something for a change like Fisk.

I loved math before this class and have lost any interest in Calculus thanks to him. He is unclear and extremely condescending. He is nice occasionally, but I stress "occassionally". He is obviously very smart and knows his stuff, he just doesn't teach well.
