Old and witty, but an awesome class that made me learn a little more about my family history. Great story teller, with subtle jokes. Attendance not mandatory, alot of time to do projects. Just need the Brunvand book.

Comment:

ANALYSIS; One of the easiest and most enjoyable professors I have ever had. A very desirable class for history and linguistics majors, Dr Miller makes what otherwise one would expect to be a boring class a really fun, stress free and enjoyable learning environment. No tests, written essays are at your desired length and short class discussions.

He's the easiest professor I've had, but he's also a really good one. He's nice to everyone, he makes a lot of dark/subtle jokes, and was overall very entertaining. Attendance isn't mandatory, there are no tests, projects are easy, but it's still worth going to class.

Easiest professor I've had yet. No exams, just 3 really simple projects and a journal. Class is based on discussion, so it can get boring/awkward if people didn't read. Attendance is not mandatory. As long as you hand in the projects, you'll get an A. Laid-back class, friendly professor, and a good grade boost - will take again!

Very easy, attendance not mandatory but I recommend you go. Boring class dependent on class participation. Required book. 2nd time I've had him--sweetest man on the face of the earth. Understanding and flexible. Projects/papers are a breeze (3-4 total). 40 journal entries (50 words apiece on anything you've read) for 40% of grade. Will take again.

So easy. Sometimes the class was boring, but some texts were interesting to discuss! He goes off topic a lot. The class is really easy. There are two "essays" (you can poems sometimes). And the final is whatever you want it to be. He's a very nice guy as well! Only real work you have to do is a journal. But you don't have to go into detail.

His class was boring but easy. He does take attendence but he cancelled class at least 4 times. You have to keep this jornal thing about what you read, I just wrote down what other people said in class and put it in my journal. For the final I drew and colored a picture. so easy

I had this gentleman years ago. A+ from me as a graduated professional, whom (is that correct, lol?) did not become an English teacher but yet reflects on the class, the "teach", what I learned, and the COURAGE he gave me to succeed, and I USE IT quite often. Dr. Miller is amazing. He is a very intelligent man and lets the class discuss many topics. You have to be an adult about this class and he treats you as an adult. The work was fair and grading was fair. Would definitely take him again.

I love him! If you stay and talk to him after class or go to him during his office hours, he is more than willing to talk. He is funny and intelligent! He is an easy A and he does cancel class on a regular basis, so if you're not into that, don't take him. I would definitely take any other course that Steven Miller teaches!

Easy A. Though he did not care about our class- told us we were "not his top priority" and didn't hand any of our work back. Ends class early a lot and cancels class a good amount as well. If you actually value your education and want to learn something I wouldn't reccomend this class.

Welllll... he's a very intelligent man, and very, very nice, but he might be TOO nice, perhaps... I would hate to refer to a professor as an "easy A" but I can't think of any other term... Here's a plus: You do learn a lot about a lot of interesting things, without the stress of worrying about your grade. I would say he's worth taking.

I found this prof to be very unhelpful. His class discussions are great, but I expected to learn something. He contradicted the textbook and was very vague on all his definitions. Easiest W course I've taken, not much writing. But he's very picky about word choice- he argued with me for 15 minutes about the difference between two words (form and structure), then told me they were synonyms. I won't take this prof again.
