Stephen is one of the best professor I've ever meet. Choose his class! He is a nice guy. Don't be shy to talk to him. Attendance is necessary in his class, and it is 20% of the final grade. He just trying to make the class easier. And he often said"everybody can get a A!"

He is a unique teacher, very animated and made a very boring subject bearable. He made an effort to get to know everyone's name. Attendance mandatory and graded. Only homework is reading but tests are extremely difficult: gives you quotes and you must name the author and explain significance. It's tough with 25 authors discussing similar material.

Stageberg is crazy. But the good kind. He sings, dances, shouts, plays music videos before class, and is always picking on random people to answer questions. He is tough and will definitely call you out for missing class, not reading, or not knowing the answer, but he's wonderful.

Keep up with textbook reading & take notes in class. He randomly shouts in class and calls people out to answer his questions or finish his sentences.

I have had many classes with Stageberg and I have to say he is one of the best/if not the best Econ Professor at UMW. Teaching style is different because he tries to engage everybody in the class. As long as you take good notes and are able to answer the same questions he asks everyday, you will pass with a good grade.

I am not going to lie, the class is HARD !! specially if u don't like statistics, there is tons of formulas and its just overall complicated. However, Stageberg does a very good job in explaining and keeping things interesting. I am a foreign student and had no problem following him. He is totally willing to help as long as you show interest.

This class is not bad if you keep up with the textbook reading..but there is a lot of it. Stageberg is a fun professor but a lot of his lecture is him asking questions. He also will start a sentence and expect the class to finish it which gets annoying. He calls attendance every class but there is no attendance grade? It's confusing. 3 tests. Hard.

I've had multiple classes with Stageberg and although he can be a little intimidating at first with all of his questions (he loves to randomly pick a student to get an answer out of) - you can truly tell he loves teaching his students and the Q&A helps out so much. Just come to class, pay attention, and read/study your notes. You'll be fine.

Stageburg is probably one of the most enthusiastic professors at UMW. He made a true effort to learn everyone's names in a class of 85 and pretty much had it at the end. Tests are hard, but he grades fairly. READ THE TEXTBOOK. And go to class, he favors the students who appear to class more. And be prepared to answer questions!!

Stageberg's principles class solidified my love of economics. He takes the time and effort to personally learn everyone's names, even in a huge class. He is incredibly enthusiastic and makes the subject interesting and fun. He makes everything clear and is very helpful. I try to take every class with him possible.

I didn't want to be an Econ major until I took this class. He is truly brilliant and his enthusiasm is contagious. Granted, a very generous amount of work is needed to do well in the class-- it pays off and all future econ classes seem easy in comparison. Love him!

I have taken Stagey for multiple ECON classes, as it is my major. He is extremely enthusiastic and you can't help but be motivated to learn, and do well. It is essential you attend every class if you don't he will call you out in front of class for sure. His tests and assignments are challenging, but he teaches everything very well.

Enthusiastic, but has a ridiculous and annoying way of lecturing involving constant Q&A. His powerpoints are convoluted and not so helpful. He gets angry easily and when he does, it's scary. He seems to hate his job and covers it up with humor.

If you don't want to put any work into your coursework, you won't like him. If you're a hard worker who wants to understand things you'll like him. He's very clear about things, very helpful, and a good guy. Tests are very reasonable: no trick questions, very straightforward. You gotta pay attention in class though.

I loved this professor! Very enthusiastic and willing to help you if you ask for it. However, when asked what will be on tests he just answers, "Everything!" Tests are on the difficult side, and he takes attendance religiously. Go to as many classes as possible and really study for the exams! Not a class for those looking for an easy A.

I was on his "short list" of people who had too many abscenes, that was really annoying, but I actually liked Stageberg as a professor! To do well in his class you need to go to class and pay attention, he's really "engaging" so that's not so hard, you can also get by with skimming the book. There's 3 tests but he curves the grades!
