Prof Burton is clearly very brilliant (you'll read cases that cite him), but cannot explain things to "normal" people. He speaks incredibly quickly in lectures and refuses to slowdown or repeat anything. He is unhelpful in office hours, and designs his tests to be as difficult as possible (class average 33% on mult. choice + really long essay).

Professor Burton is amazing. Contracts is by nature a hard course, and he logically explained everything so you could see how it all fit together. He makes you work so that you come up with the answers on your own and they aren't just handed to you. He's also extraordinarily helpful during office hours and genuinely wants everyone to do well.

Professor Burton is brilliant. Although his questions may be intimidatingconfusing at first, once you get to know his style things get easier. If you have questions ask. Go to office hours, because he really cares and will help you. His test was the hardest test for me, yet still a good grade. Work hard and he's a great teacher to have!

Professor Burton delivered clear instruction on sometimes murky material, and did so with a dry and understated sense of humor. I found him helpful during and after class, and got one of my better grades that semester from him.

I would agree with the earlier poster who said he is an "acquired taste." He is overwhelming at first, but if you do the work and are not worried about being corrected in class, he isn't all that bad. Burton is challenging, can be confusing, but is very intelligent and likes teaching. Appreciate Burton, but don't let him intimidate you.

Clearly loves what he is teaching. The class was interesting but could be difficulty due to clarity of teaching style and density of material. I was most nervous when called on in class - questions too vague for my grasp.

He clearly cares a great deal and puts for his best effort. He's very smart and knows his stuff. But he makes it harder than it has to be and often makes people he calls on very nervous and uncomfortable.

Least helpful professor i have run into!!! Does not act like he cares and will not make any effort to help or to even look at you. He is an extremely unpleasent man and his classes are next to useless becuase he is incompetent at teaching!

The other comments posted here are erroneous. Burton is highly intelligent, knows the material, and is interested in the material and in students. His personality and speaking style are a bit reserved, but I see no indication of arrogance or pompousness. The other posters probably didn't do the work, received poor grades, and now blame the prof.
