Comment:
Overall I'd take another online course with him solely based on how slack he was. Written exercises for each unit were not graded, if you submitted them before the deadline you got full marks, same for discussions. 3 Papers were graded for content only. It's almost like he doesn't know how to use the D2L website, responds to email though.

Dr. Stephen Crocker is an incredibly smart man who has a genuine kindness and down-to-earth quality that makes his classes wonderful. He is from a different era before the advent of "online learning" where lectures were for the discussion of ideas and not the delivery of spoon-fed materials so come aware.

No D2L page, very unorganized and hard to differentiate between what is important material and what is just him rambling on about useless information. Nice guy but the way he teaches is very out of date.

Not a fan. Doesn't supply notes which was hard for me since I am a student with a learning disability and actually needed notes in order to keep organized with the course. He also wasn't overly responsive with emails I sent him so communicating with him about the course was difficult.

I took his class online and while maybe he's great in person, he's horrible online. Nothing was clear with dates or assignments. I had no clue where we were in the term at any given point. Unresponsive with emails. Will not be taking another online course again. The least organized and most difficult to figure out what had to be passed in when.

dr. crocker is an excellent prof. if you're the type to want to just memorize and regurgitate, dr. crocker's classes aren't for you. he gives you room to be creative and to think and to grow as a student, and some of his material is more difficult. take any of his classes if you are interested in learning something!

Really interesting, eloquent and kind of genius. But, because of this, you might find it difficult to keep up (if you haven't done the readings) and take notes. That being said, he is a really facinating and challenging prof who is also, at the same time, very understanding and approachable.

He is an AMAZING prof. All of the positive comments below mine seem right on. He is EXTREMELY knowledgeable in sociology. He does go off on tangents but he repeats himself enough from class to class that you know what's important and what's not. (warning: a lot of the readings he assigns are useless. better off just taking notes in class)

I didn't really like him as a teacher. The lectures dragged on, and he tried to drag participation from students. But he is a very fair marker if you always come to class.

He is a great prof ... he does go off on tangents though, which makes for some messy note taking; but as another user noted: he repeats himself enough that the message gets across enough that you really don't need your notes. And he is funny, sometimes he can make the most lame and snooze-worthy material into something interesting to tell friends.

Probably my favourite professor after 4 years of university. He's well-read enough that he can teach almost any area of sociology, and has a mental catalouge of resources on different topics and specializations. The lectures can be a whirlwind, but he repeats himself enough for the messages to get across. He also has a nice passion for the artistic

Steven Crocker is a very intelligent person. His classes are interesting and the oppertunity to exercise your brain should not be passed up -take his class. He is helpful as well, and his discussions are such that most people feel comfortable in participating them. The reading material he chooses is worth the time, and he recommends A+extra stuff.
