Don't do it. Wish I had taken this class in another semester with the other teacher. His exams are impossible and if you don't understand the assignments you are screwed. Avoid even if you have to delay your graduation to take the other professor.

Lectures are a bit dull. However, go to class it will help with assignments. Plus if you do them early you can submit for feedback. Only think that was annoying was his test. He grades tests heavy; 77 percent of the grade when I took it in summer. Definitely read the books and his power points for help on tests.

Comment:
Attendance is mandatory if you want assignments reviewed before you submit them however, his "reviews" simply consist of him suggesting you read the book/notes. Some assignments don't have a rubric to follow so be prepared to lose an unfair amount of points on hw. Extremely hard to stay awake and can be very short/impolite in emails. Don't take him

He will change the grading scale 4 days before the Final.(Congrats everyone needs 2% higher on the final now). He doesn't curve even though only 30% of the students are left and the class average is still a C. The tests are a huge part of your grade and extremely tricky.

Impossible to pass unless you eat, sleep and breathe XBRL, Databases and Tableau. Ridiculous requirements for a class that is not necessary for the CPA exams. We are not Computer Science majors, we are accounting majors. Unnecessarily hard. Take anyone but Hornik.

Assignments are tough and time consuming, but if you are in class to take his attendance "quiz", you can submit assignments early for feedback. Lectures are dry, and oftentimes confusing - this class would better be taught in a computer lab. There are no surprises - he tells you exactly how to earn the grade you want, it's just not always easy.

This class is not hard, but is VERY time consuming. Especially in summer when I took it. Go to class because then he'll review your assignment and tell you what's wrong if you submit it before it's due. Test are pretty easy, just go through the power points, skim the book, and understand the assignments you did and you'll be fine. Very easy B.

Comment:
This Professor is extremely unclear throughout the entire class. He gives you zeros randomly and accuses you of cheating for using the examples on his website for help on the assignments and then turns around and takes points off for not copying the examples on his website for the next assignment. When corresponding he is also extremely rude.

I have no idea why this class is necessary. I have learned absolutely nothing and don't even understand the purpose of the material or how it's relevant. Again, this class is totally unrelated to accounting and the material will be way over your head.

Go to class, get your attendance code and he will give you feedback on your hmwk assignment if you submit it before it's due. Got 100's on all of mine thanks to his feedback. Tests are straightforward, does curve and gives xcredit q on exam. Not very time consuming class if you're ok with a B (could take w another class). Very nice/easygoing guy.

Easy B class, nearly impossible to get an A due to the grading scale. He is extremely helpful with the homework assignments. You have to go to class in order to get his help, which you will need. Learned a lot, but glad this class is over.

His assignments don't make sense. This class is all about something that we don't even really need to know yet for some reason this class is mandatory. Homework assignments take forever to do. They are long and tedious.

Get ready to learn some coding, and data diagrams. Stay on top of homework assignments if you want to succeed. Tests are easy and can be mastered if you read the books 20 times. Other than that, I missed quiet a few classes and still made a B. He's one of the more "chill" accounting professor, take that however you like. I won't comment further.

This class is 100% useless to any accountant. This is a non calculation based course where you make diagrams and learn basic coding. There is NO reason for us to learn XML and XBRL. There are a lot of assignments that are extremely annoying and tedious and its not always clear on how to do them. Tests are fair. UCF needs to teach us excel instead.

Very good instructor. Projects are clear and exams can be challenging. His walk throughs in class help with the projects. The feedback he gives online will make the difference between passing and getting an A or B+. Email him anytime and expect a quick response with clear suggestions.

This is a computer class. Databases, diagrams, etc... If you're not a computer person, the material WILL be difficult. Hornik is a good teacher and a chill dude. Reasonable assignments, straightforward exams. Useful (but boring) lectures. I'd say this is a very stress-free class. No complaints.

He's a cool guy. I liked to shout in class "Heat suck!", "Go Pacers!" and "Go Spurs!". He showed in class how to do the assignments. I suggest that you take his class during the Summer, which I did.
