Look, this is a tutorial to English a lower level class. He was supposed to build your confidence in your writing. I didn't, I doubted myself because of all the corrections he made. Towards the end, I was finally able to raise my grade on my paper but not by much. He's the type to make you stick your head in the sand or work hard for it.

If you want to improve your writing skills, this is truly a wonderful class!. Even if you are not a poor writer, he is great at providing students with tips on how to improve (there is always room for that). He is very fair in his grading and lenient/understanding of his students' needs.

Prof. Jones knows his subject and is a thorough lecturer. He's also a tough grader but he lets students know his expectations up front. If you are willing to work and have thick skin- he calls on students in class- he's one of the best professors on campus!I've taken him twice & recieved an A. I'd love to take another class with him in the future!

Avoid taking him! Students were scared to participate in class because he ridicules you. out of a class of 45, he couldn't find a decent essay and he seemed proud when people started dropping his class because it was too hard!term paper is 7-10pgs long on analyzing a child's book

I thought this was going to be a fun - easy going class with much too learn -BUT IT WASN'T we had to by about $150.oo in books and we had no time to enjoy them had to read different book for classes, his papers are tough because he is very knowledgeable and one of the books we read HE WROTE - very dissapointed

Professor Jones is very intelligent and teaches his subject well. However, he is not approachable, and did not make me feel comfortable taking advantage of office hours. He claimed all semester that we only needed to use his book for a secondary source, but a week before the due date, he informs us that we need two or more secondary sources.

He is very rude and weird. He says one thing but means another. He will advice you on what to do your paper on and when you do it and show it to him he will say "ummm change it to ..." Does he actually think we have the worlds time to rewrite? He knows what he is doing but he has to realize that we are only getting our BA not our PHD!

Opened up a pathway toward psychological, sociological, spiritual, and epistemological ideologies from a literature perspective. I am grateful for that because this new way of critical thinking certainly gave new approaches to my life. He made me realize I can apply myself to the characters in any of the literature narratives, stories, legends.....

his enthusiasm is outstanding, very few professors will try as hard as he does in class to keep you interested. I have just begun the first week of his class and already I have begun to learn so much. Some of his comments are just weird and quirky, but overall, his lecture is outstanding. I think he tries his best not to be biased, but as with most english classes, it is easier if you are coming from a Judao-Christian/Islamic background. Your faith makes the subject way easier to handle from perspective.

He wins the award for being the absolute worst English Professor and overall person at CalStateLA. This guy never stands by his word, which was clear when he gave us an in-class POP-MIDTERM to make sure we read our homework assignment.
