Comment:
Takes the entire semester to hand back your first assignment. Doesn't actually teach you anything about writing, except how to use semi-colon. Skips his own class and emails you THE NEXT DAY IN PRESENT TENSE. YOU DON'T FOOL ME, LORNE. 0/10 After 4 years here, I have not had a prof nearly as terrible.

Lorne is a man brimming with enthusiasm for the subject material and with a deeply affable and kind demeanour. He had me looking forward to the class and his exams were entirely reasonable and fair. His lectures may have been somewhat dry and dragging-ish, but overall was quite good.

Lorne is a very vague teacher. He gives you many handouts to explain how to do assigned papers but rarely gives outlines on how to accomplish the finished product. Extremely tough grader. If this is your first year taking English I strongly recommend another teacher.

Lorne is great at explaining how to get an A or B in his class. Follow his helpful tips and tricks to developing, supporting and explaining ideas and finally integrating them into an essay. He is soft spoken and perhaps not an authoritative prof but cares about his class and is passionate about the readings he gives.

Lorne is an amazing person. Extremely kind and sweet man, and really cares about his students. He is very accompdating to students who have questions or need help and he gives clear feedback. He puts effort into students who put effort into his classes, so people who are unhappy with him as a teacher probably could have put in more effort in class

Lorne Bellamy I found was a poor English teacher. His class was not very English based at all. Many handouts on "the safe drug injection sites in Vancouver". I swear that is all I have learned from his class.

Comment:
Lorne Bellamy is a simplistic and charismatic teacher. Academically, he sucks bad. The best trick i recommend you if you want to enter his class, is to participate often and have a sense of leadership, because i saw on Bellamy's eyes a power of excitement. I prefer that he should not teach English, instead Psychology will be better for him, though.

Easy enough if you put in any effort. He is very charismatic even if it seems repetitive and sometimes boring during lectures.

Comment:
To those whose English isn't their language don't take his class. He is an extremely tough grader therefore proceed with caution. Bellamy definitely is knowledgeable but he shouldn't be teaching first year English. He grades more like a fourth year English prof. Take his class if you are looking for challenges otherwise avoid his class.

Comment:
For those who are unhappy with this class, it's because Lorne is too smart to be teaching this class to first year students. Again, that might not be a bad thing either because it's a reality check when you're fresh out of highschool and realize that you're not a special snowflake anymore! He is a hard marker but he's passionate about his work!

Comment:
Bellamy teaches the class in a very slow manner, while not offering constructive information in his lectures. His test's consist of in-class essay writing, and 3 essays to write throughout the semester. He doesn't teach what he's asking for in his lectures, so the marks he gives arent fairly reflected.

Doesn't seem to be a bad guy and definitely has a passion for English. However, his lectures are long and monotone. I sometimes found it difficult to stay awake in class. Doesn't give decent feedback and tends to be unclear at times of what he would like us to write about.

Worst prof ever. Had no idea what he was grading. Took forever to get marks back. Doesn't tell you if your doing well or where you need to improve. Told me I was going to pass then failed me

Super nice guy but unnecessarily difficult marker. No matter how well you write your paper, if you have grammatical errors here and there, you're getting less then a B. Classes are boring and don't always directly translate to exams. Papers are too long and drag on. Don't take this class, it's way too difficult and generally unfair.

He is very passionate about what he teaches, going through the stories with him was very interesting and thorough. tough marker but gives out extensions with due dates if he doesn't finish grading the papers. he can be a bit dry sometimes but genuinely he cares about his students and is pretty clear with what he wants from the assignments.

Takes forever to mark a paper, loves talking and sometimes talks like there's no one in the class as he loves to talk and talk and talk, never stops talking about irrelevant topics. Wrote a paper and said it was great but still gave me 6.5/15? how is this possible. worst Prof ever.

Lorne's lectures are boring & irrelevant. Takes forever to get graded work back. Going into a final with only 25% of my work marked. Hard marker & doesn't give much feedback just grammar corrections. Will never take again

Terrible prof! He didn't hand back my assignments until the final. I failed this course. He forced us to fix the assignments many times and then still mark them zero. If he intends to give a zero mark, he should hand back the assignment sooner so that we can promptly drop out of the course. How horrible!
