Slides were way too complicated. Lectures hardly related to slides most of the time. Confusing and bad organization. The class felt like an eternity. A nice guy but terrible lecturer

Comment:

I really loved this seminar and enjoyed the readings. There were lots of readings assigned but nothing unexpected for a 4th year class. Participation definitely counts so it is important to do the readings and bring up key points during discussion. Overall, a very interesting, challenging, and fun class!

How on earth this guy is a professor, I will never understand. He's very obnoxious and no help at all to his students. We had piles and piles of readings and were expected to be experts on each one. His instructions for our papers were extremely vague - he never even handed out instructions for the first paper, all we got was "write a paper."

Comment:

Took a while for Dr.Palmer to delve into the material in lectures. Once he did, and I knew what was expected from him, my interest grew. Very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I'm looking forward to taking from of his classes in the future. Attend class, do the work and it's going to be a good experience with Palmer.

He's very passionate about the material. He puts his notes on CLEW. He was very helpful and replied very very quickly to my emails. Midterms questions and the final exam questions and concepts were outlined before hand, making it easy to study. There was one paper, and one midterm. If you study, the midterm and exam should be very easy for you!

OMG, this has got to be one of the most confusing teacher ever, his reading are way too much, it takes about 6 hours to read his reading for the class,readings are not related to the class lecture, lecture is not organized and makes no sense, i wanted to cry everyday i went to his class because it was that bad

Great speaker, had him thrice already but moreso for the content rather then his style and the course that i took as a requirment. Great guy but his lectures are all over the place, sometimes hard to follow and is unclear about what he wants to see from his students. Great courses but needs improvement.

He's a great guy to go and talk to but I found his classes to be a complete waste of time. He has a great voice and communicates his useless information in a very enticing manner. He really should be on TV. However, i heard that his Latin American class is really awesome..I guess he's one of the leading scholars in Canada about S.American studies.
