Scobie-doo has some high expectations for his students. He expected us to use MLA citations in in-class tests (in a first year class, no less). A waste of time that could be much better spent writing. Knows (and coos over) lots of Canadian "authors"--give it a rest. Before I heard him lecture, I thought airbags were only in cars.

Scobie is okay. The fact he has met and knows alot of Canadian literary icons makes him more interesting, not pompous. i far perferred to be taught by this knowledgeable prof than some recent Phd who's absorbed literature from dry books and articles.

Scobie is an introvert and, I think, someone who never lived as much as he wanted to. But his passion for his work is second to none, and if you ignore his oddities, his knowledge and sincerity will inspire the same in you. Best class I ever took. Pretty gross to pick on his vulnerabilities, guys.

Ok, so the coughing gets a little annoying, but don't we all have our issues? this guy knows what he's talking about, but needs to focus more on the literature rather than the writer's background and who he knows. Really nice guy,I found his marking surprisingly pleasant! In love with Phyllis Webb!
