Dr. Vanderslice is not a nice guy by any means. I feel as if he looks down upon his students, which is sad. He is boring, and wears the same clothes week by week. I earned a A in his class, but did not learn a single thing. He is not a good teacher, especially if you disagree with his opinion, i.e. " The Prodical Son". What a jerk!!!

I hate English classes but i LOVED this class. I walked away with so much from his class. It was a great experience. I will take him for other classes. He made me look at literature in a different light. LOVED LOVED LOVED this professor!!!

I didn't have much of a problem with him, but I can see why people do. Some professors just need to be "humored" and he's one of them. Have his opinion on the short stories! My advice would be to take him for summer. We didn't have time for the poetry (due to his going off on tangents endlessly), so we just didn't do that or the corresponding test!

I like Dr. Vanderslice. I never understood why some people hate him so much. He's very formal, but that's not a bad thing. I can't say I learned a whole lot, because the only way to get a good grade is to regurgitate exactly what he says. If you read the material and listen in class, you will make a B easily even if you don't study at all.

I've made A's in all English classes& when I received papers back from him, it looked like somebody had bled all over it. Are comma splices a necessity for philosophy? He is an absolutely hideous teacher. Not only is he boring, pretentious and evil he's not even a good professor. I didn't know what to expect based on his different ratings, but now I know the bad ones were right. Don't take him if youre interested in literature and in getting a good education.

I very much enjoyed his class. He has a very formal style of teaching - expect to be refered to by your last name (Ms., Mr. ect.)- and is primarily a "lecturer". Back up your opinions with logic and text.
