I find he is a difficult prof to talk to. He tends to look down upon you, and he expects very high standards. BUT he is a very intelligent man and if you show him real effort, especially with the collection you must make, you will get on his good side. Theres only 10 ppl in the class so make it look like you are working hard. so he'll c it

Comment:
A difficult course made even more difficult by the fact that 1) 'Dr' Peck keeps a massive psychological distance from his students 2) He does not use WebCT 3) He uses overheads, well, OK, so what?...4) He expects you to as well when giving your presentation ($$). 5) The material is endlessly fascinating, his lectures look and feel like a chore.

Comment:
Dr.Peck is an intelligent man, but his arrogance affects his ability to establish a concern for the progress of his students. You cannot ask questions in class, you can't email, or call him, he does not even use webCT where students can communicate on a forum. It was a class where A+ students got C's. The lab exams are hard med-school anatomy exams

Although his teaching is good, you can tell that he doesn't really care for the students. He isn't concerned with his students performing well in his class. Unfortunately, there is no way to avoid him! The labs were alright, although the lab exams were BRUTAL and on the most random, insignificant things. Make sure you know species & genus names!

Dr. Peck didn't seem that friendly in bio2001 but that changed completely for 3004 (Insect Diversity). He is willing to help those students who come to class regularly but has little respect for those who skip often. I highly recommend insect diversity, it has been the most interesting course I've taken at Carleton to date. Study and you'll likem

Jerk. No questions allowed in class or during tests. Midterms/Lab exams easy enough. Final covers EVERYTHING (unlike midterms, which focused on main topics). Even tiny details you don't think matter will likely make it to the final. Study everything, and you'll actually do well.

I was so afraid before I took his class because I heard he had high standards. However, his exams are doable, he just doesn't care about his students. I think he really likes the sound of his own voice, and likes to show off his knowledge and experience.

Although some may disagree Stuart Peck is the best prof I've had to date. He is very knowledgeable and has extremely well planned lectures. He is very interesting to listen to and I look forward to taking his Insect Diversity course next year. I give him an A+ even though he didn’t give me one :(

THere is something seriously wrong with this man. He will insult you, and fail you, and treat the whole class like stupid garbage My only advice (scine you can't avoid his class) is READ and MEMORISE. His tests are impossible really, try to line up an easy set of other courses to complement this one

A very knowledgeable professor in the field of Entomology. Clearly a more enjoyable professor in Insect Diversity than Animal: Form and Function. Expects the best from his students, so to do well you need to put A LOT of effort into the courses. He is a good guy when you are on his good side!!

Exceptionally tricky multiple choice - made to fool even those who attended all classes and studied. Insulting to ANYONE who dares to ask a question during class. Only take this course if you have to (like I did), otherwise I strongly suggest avoiding it (the lab component is tough too).

I had him for Animal F&F, and Insect Diversity. He's really smart and knows what he's talking about, but he's also a real prick and makes it clear that he doesn't care about teaching.
