When grading papers, she looks for very specific elements and a very specific structure that confused me a lot at first. However, once I got the hang of it, I ended up getting a pretty good grade in the class. But her lectures were hard to not fall asleep in sometimes--they were interesting, but she speaks with a monotone voice and pauses often.

I took Prof. Ng for Shakespearean Tragedies and was so excited to take the course. Now I regret it. There's A LOT of reading involved, and she only likes ONE style of writing and it's not mine. I haven't gotten anything above a B- my essays, and I've never gotten that poor of a grade on an essay before! She's also very unclear on what she wants.

As a graduate student, I've seen a lot of different ways of approaching English classes. This one was the worst class approach I have ever had. I would rather stab my eyeballs out than take anything from her again.

Excellent class! The course-load was well balanced and easy to accomplish. The Prof is really clear about what she expects and is extremely helpful. She leaves wonderful comments on the paper. As long as you are willing to participate in class and keep up on the reading, there is no reason that this class should be anything but pleasant.

You can tell she loves the class 17century lit because she wont stop talking. Kept us in class sometimes 5 minutes after because she would not shutup. She is very anal and only wants you to write papers about what she believes. She is VERY hard and grades hard. She is also annoying and hard 2 understand. Avoid at all costs if you don't want2 fail!

I had her for two classes and really liked the materials that she chose. She's also a great coach when it comes to writing papers. Unfortunately, she has zero charisma and it is painful to hear her fumbling through a lecture or timidly attempting to direct a discussion. Probably fine as an independent study teacher, not good in class.
