Really boring class. But if you need a WI, this is a great class. Not a lot of writing and easy to revise back to an A. Quizzes are tough, but exams are easy. Easy A and she cares a lot.

Comment:

Sue means well but her lectures are super boring especially as someone who is not a music major. This class is however easy if you pay attention and read over the chapters. The quizzes will bring your grade down if anything will. If you take WI there is not much writing and she grades really fair and offers second drafts for full credit.

Comment:

Sue Gamble is a wonderful person and one of my overall favorite professors at CMU. Being a non-music major taking a music class, she made everything very simple to understand and taught it like nobody knew anything about music. If you show up to class, read the book and do her study guides, it should be an easy A.

Sue Gamble is a saint of a woman. She's such a sweet, old lady. However, her lectures are boring. But, she let's you use reading guides on quizzes, and her tests are fairly easy. If you show up and do your work, you should get an A in this class.

Quizzes are what will kill you in this class, at least in the honors section. STUDY! Tests aren't hard and she grades papers and projects easily, but the first few quizzes have the ability to sink your grade and if you don't put in the effort it will be hard to bounce back.

Sue is a little sour patch kid she can be irritated easily but is overall kind. She loves music and I would take the class with her again you often get out early but her exams are a little hard for me because I'm not musically advanced.

Overall, Sue Gamble was a good professor. Although I've had better, I've also had worse. She made the material very easy for those who have never taken a MUS class before. If you put a little effort in, it was very easy to get an A. She was rude at times, but overall a pleasant personality.

Prof. Gamble is a very easy teacher and an easy A is possible. Although she is a sweet old lady, the class in kind of boring almost fell asleep every time. She gives a lot of extra credit at the end, but the midterm was fairly difficult for everyone because the study guide she gave did not help at all. Just do the very short readings and extra cred

terrible teacher. super boring almost fell asleep in every class. The stuff she puts puts on study guides for test aren't useful as she non of that material is on the test. Doesn't actually teach about different cultures music just goes through and teaches vocab . Class is not worth taking. Whatever you do, do not take this class unless music major

Dr. Gamble is really nice and this class was, overall, pretty easy. There arn't any suprise quizzes or assignments (she outlines EVERYTHING in the syllabus). She also gives out study guides of everything that will be on the exams and doesn't make things too technical for non-music majors. It's a great UP course and a pretty easy A

I loved Sue and I thought she was a great teacher. You basically only have a midterm and a final for tests over the semester. If you have a music background this class is super easy. You have 3 projects that you have plenty of class time to finish them in.

Both her and her GA are condescending. After a teaching observation they ask for your opinion, then tell you that your opinion is wrong. I learned nothing that I didn't already know. I had points taken off assignments without explanation beyond "This idea won't work." I dreaded going to class, and almost considered changing majors.

Dr. Sue is a fantastic professor. In response to others' comments: Yes, there are unannounced quizzes, but she does not hide that. You are paying $900.00 to take this class so as a student, I would do my best to respect that and attend every single class. Do the readings every week and take notes on them when they are assigned.

I personally don't care for this class. The quizzes are the most difficult because they're pop ups and from the reading. Studying key terms will help you a lot. Midterm and Final is pretty straight forward you get a study guide. Coursepack waste of money. Borrow from a friend or go in half SOMETHING don't pay full price for that...

Exams really hard at least for me they were, you have to attend every day or you will def. miss out on a lot. Hated that class and was looking forward to it, I love music and that really hurt my view on learning different cultual music

This class is not that hard, but she is rude and disrespectful... will single you out and embarrass you in front of the whole class, attendance is VERY important to this lady so you better be there or she will single you out. Likes to tell people they are wrong... and make you feel bad about yourself. If you can take another prof I recommend it
